Lillian Lewandowski, 68, of Grand Island died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be at Grand Island City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and there will be a 7 p.m. rosary service on Tuesday evening at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Mrs. Lewandowski was born March 9, 1941, in O'Neill to Charles and Mary (Brown) Fleming. Survivors of the immediate family include a son Rod and his wife Sara Eppenbaugh of Aurora, Colo.; and a brother Ben and wife Mary Fleming of Ravenna. Other survivors include two grandchildren. She grew up in O'Neill and graduated from O'Neill St. Mary's High School. She was united in marriage to Dennis Lewandowski on July 28, 1979, in Grand Island. She lived in O'Neill and worked at O'Neill Photo Co. and in Grand Island where she worked at Parkplace Nursing Center, the Nebraska Veterans Home and St. Francis Skilled Care Center. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Dennis.
