JOB DESCRIPTION Job Family: Clinical and Allied Health Services Job Function: Behavioral Health/Psychology Job Title: Psychologist (Medical) Pay Band: 8 FLSA Status: Exempt General Description (Purpose and Function): The Psychologist will work closely with coalition partners to conduct assessments provide individual and group counseling, provide consultation and case management to centers, coordinate training and technical assistance to center staff and families, and help meet the goals and objectives of the department. The Psychologist will also assist with data analysis, manuscript preparation and presentations in the community. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort): Identifies psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues, and diagnoses disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials Develops and implements individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy Interacts with clients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning actions to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment Discusses the treatment of problems with clients Utilizes a variety of treatment methods such as psychotherapy, hypnosis, behavior modification, stress reduction therapy, psychodrama, and play therapy Counsels individuals and groups regarding problems such as stress, substance abuse, and family situations, in order to modify behavior and/or to improve personal, social, and vocational adjustment Performs timely, complete and legible documentation of services provided, consistent with professional standards and university procedures Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling or treatments, and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses; as needed, modifies plans and diagnoses Provides individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy, design and implementation of individualized behavior plans, competency groups, psychological assessments, psychological evaluations, and psychoeducation Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary teams Completes and submits P.I. reports in time frames designated., and follows up on all P.I. recommendations pertaining to responsible areas Supervises and trains the psychology students, and provides training and education to the rest of the clinical team as needed Provides expert testimony to the court and serves on committees as required Trains the nursing and program staff on behavioral principles and on the specific behavior plans, supervises the interns on the development of all new behavior management plans, and oversees the collection of data on the target behaviors for the behavior plans Other duties as assigned Job descriptions are not intended, and should not be construed to be an exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, and efforts or working conditions associated with a job.
