HEIFER INTERNATIONAL
Heifer International is 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization working to end world hunger by giving cows, goats and other food-and income-producing livestock to impoverished families around the world. Recipients are trained in animal care and environmentally sound agricultural practices so they can lift themselves out of poverty and become self-reliant. Milk, eggs, wool, meat, draft power and other benefits of animals provide nutrition and money for education, housing, health care and small business enterprises.
Heifer partners with community groups to form a development plan with specific goals.
Partners learn how to care for animals and grow crops in ways that can be sustained for future generations. Heifer provides expertise in animal health, water quality, gender equity, the environment and community development.
Recipients agree to share offspring of their animals with others in need through a requirement

Heifer International is seeking a qualified Country Director for Heifer Poland, a branch of
Heifer International. A non governmental agency that works with local farmers to end hunger and poverty through the use of livestock and agriculture.

DUTIES:
The Director of Heifer Poland will manage and direct the business affairs of Heifer Poland.
The Director is responsible for achieving Heifer's program goals and developmental objectives. To develop and maintain institutional and organizational networks. Collaborate activities and positive working relationships with grassroots, community based organizations, local and international NGO's relevant private sector entities and government organizations in
Poland. To organize and direct program staff in the development and implementation of projects through the use of livestock and agriculture to reach country program goals and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management and Planning
To keep informed on issues of socioeconomic development, livestock programs and policies in Poland.
To investigate new opportunities and develop strategies for implementation and funding in coordination with the CEE Area Vice President
To develop and defend grant proposals to various national and international funding agencies in consultation and collaboration with Heifer Headquarters staff.
Review requests to Heifer Country Program from persons and governments in the
Country, and screen project requests according to established Heifer criteria and priorities
Work in coordination with other CEE country directors to systematically and actively plan and share mutual activities that build the capacity of Country Programs and the
Area Program to ensure quality country programs and adherence to mission.
Perform other duties and responsibilities that are mutually agreeable and consistent with the spirit of cooperation that Heifer seeks to ensure in its country program in

Office/Administration Management
Country Program will publish an Annual Report as required by Heifer International HQ, including all funds received, spent, and project reports
To organize and direct program staff in the development and implementation of Strategic
Plans and the supporting work and/or action plans to reach country program goals and objectives.
An audit is performed by an outside audit firm each Fiscal Year on the Office budget and the projects receiving more than $25,000. The audit firm will be contracted by Heifer
International HQ. Audit reports and management letters are sent to Heifer HQ, in accordance with Heifer International Requirements. The Audit must reflect no material exceptions or loss or accounting procedures. Any exceptions must be cleared with the consultation of the CEE
HQ Financial Team
Oversee the maintenance of all financial records relating to the HEIFER Poland Program
Office and submit monthly financial reports on Office Operations. Submit Semi Annual
Financial Reports on all projects which have a signed LOA. To prepare additional reports as may be required by other granting organizations, and requested by Central and Eastern
Europe Area Vice President.
To prepare and manage the Heifer Poland country budget in consultation with the CEE Area
Vice President
To ensure accountability, and transparency in the disposition of all donor funds, including accuracy and timely submission of all reports.
To provide leadership and adherence to all financial activities of the Heifer Poland program in accordance with the policies and procedures of Heifer International, USA
Maintain a Country Program Bank Account as required
Hire, discharge, direct and supervise personnel under Heifer policies and procedures
Ensure that all employees are adequately trained and educated in the capacity required to complete their jobs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree or equivalent in animal science, agriculture, rural sociology, community development or public administration is desirable. Minimum of (5) five years management
level work experience. Experience in collaboration with local government organizations for procurement of funds.Demostrated written and oral fluency in English is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Knowledge of income and expense budget preparation and monitoring.
Knowledge of accounting and reporting for accountability
Proven team leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to train and work cooperatively with a diverse staff, including field staff in several locations.
Demonstrated ability to use participatory management skills with junior and senior headquarters and field staff.

Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate to individuals and groups diplomatically and tactfully.
Experience with the NGO/PVO approach, and knowledge of global sustainable development essential; international experience and knowledge of hunger organizations desirable.
Skilled with computers as a tool for word processing, database, e-mail, spreadsheets, and organizing.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with persons in farm, church, and administrative settings.
Demonstrated ability to work advisory and governing boards.
Willingness to travel extensively.
Sensitivity in working with multiple cultures and beliefs, and to gender equity.
