They are: Treasurer: Sarah Martin Secretary: Jayne Thomas Corporate Representative: Sarah Wilson Events Coordinator: Jan Stevenson Web Champion: Dr Ed Wallington HEI Representative: Ken Platts Committee Member & Branch Steering Group Representative: David Burton Committee Members: Charlie McArdle, Innocent Ebulu and David Pearce Unfortunately due to changing work commitments and postings around the UK we have to save goodbye to David Burton, Charlie McArdle, Ed Wallington and Jayne Thomas. Despite the continuing hard economic time as a branch we continue to increase our membership to approaching 1100 members. The Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire Branch as with all other APM regions is made up from volunteers and has based much of its activities around the delivery of quality events. Throughout the past year, we have delivered a varied calendar of 9 events ranging from the business case for the Northern Hub to fundamental discussions on project requirements. Whilst we have had similar attendance figures to last year, I would urge you all to get the most out of your membership and come along more often – also why not persuade your colleagues to attend? As always our events link back to the APM’s Body of Knowledge, now on its sixth edition and have been geared around supporting the APM’s Competence Framework and our members’ Continuing Professional Development; the main aim of which has been the promotion of project management as a profession worthy of Chartership. The Register of Project Professionals now has 13 members listed from the Y&NL branch. We have continued to develop our collaborative events and have held presentations with G4C on BIM practical implementation and the Benefits SiG on Benefits realisation. Over the past year we have developed our profile via many avenues; including the APM’s main website www.apm.org.uk, Project and Network, – with 2 members recently profiled in the latter publication. Branch members have also contributed to Page 3 of 4 Y&NL Branch AGM numerous discussion threads on APM.ORG and LinkedIn. We have also encouraged tweeting about events. Former branch Chairman, David Burton, continues to serve as the region’s representative on the APM’s Branch Steering Group, thereby allowing this branch to be influential in how the APM moves forward as a professional body. Meanwhile Sarah Wilson and Ken Platts have developed their Corporate and HEI roles via the development of respective advisory groups In closing I must thank Leeds Metropolitan University, in particular David Pearce and John Heathcote for their continued support of the Branch, through the provision of venues for our Leeds based presentation events and Harris Project Management Ltd, in Wakefield for the use of their premises for our committee meetings Finally I thank Anne Robinson our event hostess as well as APM HQ’s Tuli and David for the enormous support we receive. We wish Tuli every success in her new role at Ibis House Thank you. Philip Smelt 15/05/13 Page 4 of 4
