Research Project (value = 100)
To be submitted no latter then class on Wednesday April 19.
You are to find information and report on two volcanoes that have erupted in the recent years.
1) Your reports must include:
a) Type of volcano; a description, how they were formed, type of lava associated with the
type of volcano. (value = 10)
b) Geographic location; indicate why this location would have volcanoes (value = 10)
c) Name of, the distance, and population number of nearest major city. (value = 6)
d) Dates of most recent eruption and date of most destructive eruption in the past.
(value = 6)
e) Other events associated with the last eruption (earthquakes, floods, mudslides,
tsunami, pyroclastic events, etc) (value = 10)
2) Then, attach a description on the major hazards to humans in the vicinity of this volcano.
(value = 12)
3) Speculate on what you would do if you were in charge of minimizing the risk to the
population of each of the two areas. (value = 20)
4) As a scientist indicate what you and your fellow scientists do and study, in order to try to
forecast a volcanic eruption. (value = 16)
5) Neatness and presentation of project = 10
