VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Terre des Hommes Foundation (Tdh) is an international NGO focussed on Child Rights. To support the development of its project in Juba, Tdh is encouraging applications from South Sudanese nationals for the role of: Driver Mechanics – REF: Tdh/HR/2016/003 Duty station: JUBA Contract duration: 6 months (with possibility to be renewed) Starting Date: ASAP Main responsibilities: - Safe driving for self, and for the official passengers travelling anywhere within South Sudan. - Ensures that both self and other passengers availing the vehicle fastens seat-belts all the time, while travelling. - Maintains proper logs of movements with due authorization and approval of the line manager. - Ensures the seat-belts are functioning properly, tires are in good conditions, fuel and lubricants are adequate and in proper standard. - Ensures proper timing for duties and maintains the approved speed limits (not more than 40 km/hr in Juba. - Ensures that himself or the passenger does not carry any illegal goods in the vehicle. - Ensures that all the legal documents of the vehicle (including driving licence) are updated and carried with the vehicle while driving. - Ensures that no un-authorised persons are travelling with Tdh vehicle. - In case of any incidents/accidents on the road, will report immediately to the line manager. - Ensures that due to safety/security measures, he will follow the instructions of the line manager, Country Representative or the passenger, to change the travelling routes as and when necessary. - Will have to perform the duties on official requirement basis, i.e. without any extra allowances (e.g. overtime duty allowance), he will have to perform his duties out-of office time, e.g. duties at mid night for pick/drop at airport. As per the nature of duties, he might be asked to perform his duties on week-ends for official purpose. - Attends unit in-service and safety meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. - Clean their assigned vehicle, both interior and exterior by maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicle. - Inspects assigned vehicles (e.g. brake system, oil levels, coolant, tire pressure, wiper blades, fan belts, exterior and interior condition, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the vehicle is in a safe operating condition. - Maintains tools, equipment, and/or shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability of tools and equipment and safety within the workspace. - Performs minor body work (e.g. front ends, fenders, upholstery, et c.) for the purpose of maintaining the appearance and safe operation of the vehicles. - Performs routine vehicle maintenance program (e.g. oil change, brakes, tire rotation, lights, PMI safety inspection, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining vehicles in a safe - operating condition and meeting mandated requirements. - Performs the functions of a bus driver on a daily basis for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes to and from school in a safe and timely manner. - Prepares written materials (e.g. repair and maintenance logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and meeting mandated requirements. - Repairs seats and windows for the purpose of ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition. - Responds to road calls regarding disabled vehicles for the purpose of performing emergency repair work in the field. Other Functions - Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. 1 Requirements: - Minimum diploma- in mechanical engineering. - Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position with NGOs. - Fluency in English. Other local dialects are an asset. - Sense of diplomacy and negotiation. Knowledge of best practices in child protection. Skills in the organization. Networking skills.
