Applicants are required to apply for an installation permit at the City’s Engineering Department, which will specify the required size of the culvert, the depth of the installation, the permitted pipe material, and the permitted length. 4. Applicants have the option of installing culverts using a private contractor, but for culverts in road allowances or public rights-of-way, the contractor shall first obtain a Street Excavation Permit. Alternatively, the applicant can retain the City to undertake the work.
