Dear Parents,
Medieval Day Year 7 and Year 8
As part of their study of History, your child will be attending an excursion that will significantly help them in developing their
understanding of major periods of historical time (outcomes 4.1,4.5,4.9,4.4,4.6).
This excursion will take place at School.
When:

Friday 10 August 2012
Students are to travel to and from school in their School Uniform.
Students will be allowed to change into their medieval costumes period 1.
Lunch, Medieval costume
The format of the day is as a follows.
Period 1: Students change into Medieval costumes
Period 1 and 2: Fashion display and judging of the most authentic costumes –location Hall
There will be a prize for:
 The best female costume
 The best male costume
 The most interesting anachronism (the student’s should be able to tell you what this is!)
Period 3: 10.25 to 10.50 Early recess
Period 4: 11.00 to 1 pm Medieval armory, weaponry and punishment show –location Hall
Period 5: Medieval games – Location Hall
Period 6: A Knights Tale.
Please note that this film is M rated by it has been edited and monitored for appropriateness by staff.
3.00 pm students will be required to change into their full school uniform for the journey home
