Faces at the Airport
As I sat in the beautiful departure lounge I lay back in the plush seat and watched the
world go by. There was a large multitude of people hustling and bustling, going here
and there. I was fascinated by how unique every single individual was.
As I daydreamed, I noticed one certain man, his face was round and chubby,
sweating like a Christmas turkey. He had a stocky build and was fairly roly-poly. He
has blood-shot eyes and bushy eyebrows. His lips were like pale pink slugs and he
had a nervous smile, like he was hiding something. I noticed he had a rather large
suitcase for one man. His hair was black and well oiled. He was dressed in a cream
suit which smelt of beer. He waddled off to reveal a tall, lean woman. She had a thin
face and lips like she had a mouthful of lemons. Her eyes were a sparkling blue and
they were her best feature. She had a flat nose and white-ish hair and she dressed in a
beige two piece business suit. She strutted off as I examined a family.
There was a father who looked stressed. He had a pale face and had beady, brown
eyes. He wore a stained white shirt and faded jeans. A small girl tugged at his sleeves
screaming, “Daddy, I want a lollipop,” .He sighed as she pouted stubbornly and shook
her head as he said something to her, her brown pigtails bobbing up and down. Her
mother was trying to cajole her into letting go of the plane tickets. The mother had a
broad face with bubbly eyes. She was stocky in build and wore large floral shorts and
a pink t-shirt. Her short brown hair was tangled on top of her head, her fringe sticking
to her forehead. They managed to get the child to let go of the tickets and they ran to a
desk saying, “Flights to Spain”.
I watched an old woman instantly. She had a frail build and she was hunched over.
Although she was elderly, she had sparkling, youthful eyes. She had an elegant nose
and had white-grey hair, pinned back in a cottage leaf bun. She dressed in a neat
cashmere jumper with a brooch on it and she had a dainty string of pearls hung around
her neck. She had a neat navy pencil skirt and a pair of brown leather shoes with
laces. She lifted up her black brolly from her pull-along suitcase and got up to brave
the rain outdoors I was just about to examine a funny looking man when I was called
over the intercom.
“Can all passengers for flight number six hundred and twelve please go to departure
gate twelve”. I lugged along my suitcase and began my journey to America.

Discovery of the Eighth Heaven
It was an early Spring morning and I was out looking for my Frisbee. Donna lost it.
She was throwing it to Linda but she threw it into the forest.
“Look everyone, it’s a dog and its chasing a rabbit, lets follow it,” yelled Donna.
We went off looking for what Donna had found.
“It’s just a rabbit’s hole,” I complained.
“No, listen,”Donna whispered.” It was a sound like running water.
“Lets go down,”I said as I interrupted the silence.
We climbed down the hole and as soon as I got down I fell down into a small
depression. I immediately got up and was overwhelmed by the spectacular view that
was before me . The huge stalagmites and picturesque stalactites were exquisite.
Then I remembered the water sound. I looked up and saw a waterfall. Then I heard a
splashing sound and remembered my friends, Donna and Linda.
“Donna, Linda where are you?”
“Here we are Kerri, What is this place? ”Donna whispered.
“I think it’s a cave,” I replied.
“Did you see the waterfall? Lets ride on it,” Linda said excitedly.
We had a couple of goes. It was fantastic .There was a very tight hole so we had to
crawl through it. We waded through a knee-high deep pool. At this point we saw
another small cliff. We ran up to it ,the jumped up on it. There ahead was a light.
We followed the light and eventually we got out and we ended up right outside the
forest. I rushed to my house to tell my mam and dad. They seemed to act very calm.
Later I rang the police to inform them of what we had found and they called a
speleologist to investigate the scene.
The next day not alone was there a speleologist but a whole crew of T.V.
reporters and camera men. They interviewed Donna, Linda and myself. That same
evening when we switched on the six 0’ clock news the main feature was our historic
cave find.
Donna ,Linda and myself were celebrities!!

The Haunted House
Last year on Hallowe’en night Brian and I went trick or treating. We wore scary
costumes. We were going to let off rocket launchers but we had ran out. There was a
full moon and my friends were letting off fireworks and black cats. Sometimes we
hid behind bushes and if someone was going past we scared them and they would
scream and possibly run away.
One house, we came to was our teacher’s house and she asked us if we wanted
sweets and we said yes. I thought I saw a ghost but it was only a kid in a scary
costume going after the candy van. We really felt sorry for him because he really
wanted the candy .It was the next house that was going to change everything and
make last Hallowe’en night so memorable for us.
It was not like other houses that we had seen. This house was old, the windows were
broken. Brian heard at school one time that the house was haunted and so we went to
investigate.
We knew by looking at it that it was an empty house. It was scary because the gate up
to it was squeaky and the shutters rattled. Whenever we approached the house we
could see cobwebs everywhere and the house had a most unusual smell rising from it.
It was cool at first but when I heard deafening howls from upstairs, I was petrified.
I stayed beside Brian and we went upstairs to find what the noise was.
It was a banshee. The banshee followed us until we reached the stairs.
We scurried down the stairs t o safety and we were relieved to get out of there.
After that we closed the gates and went home.

Another Haunted House
I still vividly remember last Hallowe’en. It was a dark night .Everyone was dressed
up in scary costumes. Jason was a bat and I was a lady vampire. You could hear
fireworks and bangers going off. When we went out trick or treating we could see a
full moon. That night I had a bad sense that something was going to happen. On our
way to our auntie’s house we had to pass the old haunted house.People said there was
a spell on the house. Jason said, “ there can’t be anything wrong just going into an
empty house.”
We opened the old squeaky gate and walked up the long path. The house was huge.
It was a windy night and the shutters rattled. Then we walked into the house.
There were cobwebs in every corner of the house. We walked into a room and saw
broken glass on the floor. Jason started to shiver. As we walked into the hall we were
surrounded by huge bats. They chased us up the stairs. When we turned around they
had vanished. It was then that I noticed the pictures on the walls, pictures of families.
Suddenly we heard a noise upstairs. My heart was pounding and my hands were
trembling.
We saw a ghost at the top of the stairs. We scurried across the hall and to the front
door. At first we couldn’t get the door opened. we started to panic. Eventually we got
the door opened and we made a quick exit. We raced up the road to safety.
We were relieved to reach my auntie’s house. Our auntie thought we looked
exhausted. Then she made us something to eat. After a while she sat down and we
shared our experience with her. That night we slept soundly.

A Poem About Bullying
Big doesn’t mean better,
Usually they are scared,
Lies, the bullies tell,
Like animals,
You give them no attention,
In their own life, they just don’t care,
No one likes a bully,
Great it would be if there were no bullies!

Bullies
Bullies are weak in heart,
Usually they don’t care,
Like annoying people,
Little broken hearts they break,
If you turn out to be one
Nobody will like you,
Go away and don’t go near them!
