Assignment:

You will need to find an adult who will revise your second draft of your resume
and cover letter. It can be one of your parents, a family member, a community
member who you are close with, a family friend, a boss, a mentor, a coach, etc. (it
cannot be an English teacher at KR!)

You will set up a time to meet with your reviser, show him/her the assignment
sheet, and have him/her read your essay.

You will be responsible to taking notes on the reviser ’s comments on this piece of
paper. You will turn in this edit with your final draft.
Your reviser will focus on the following:
1. The content of your resume and cover letter
2. The presentation of your resume and cover letter
3. The grammar and spelling of your resume and cover letter
4. The overall effectiveness of your resume and cover letter
You will also show your reviser both your resume and cover letter rubric as a
guideline of what makes a successful document.
Steps for your reviser to follow:
1. Explain the Berntson Porter to resume/cover letter contest to your reviser.
2. Go over the rubrics with your reviser.
3. Ask your reviser what he/she thinks makes a good resume and cover letter.
4. Have your reviser read your cover letter and resume and write down 2 things
you did Well and 2 things to Work On.
