Richard Selby – brief biographic information Richard has worked in the communications industry since 1966, when he joined Cable and Wireless plc as a member of their international staff. His experience in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Europe includes a wide range of responsibilities including operations and maintenance engineering and management, project management and training. From 1990 to 2001 Richard was working at the Cable and Wireless Learning and Development Centre as International Training Manager, responsible for designing and delivering training for people at all levels in the telecommunications industry. Richard graduated as an Incorporated Engineer in 1974, and retired from Cable and Wireless in 2001. He runs his own company, and is a director of “Business Simulation Training Limited”. Since leaving Cable and Wireless his clients have included Coventry University School of Engineering, the Oxford, Cambridge and RSA (OCR) Examinations Board, BT Telconsult, the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation and Skillsbase s.r.o. (Prague). Richard is currently employed as a lecturer, responsible for the Management module of the English language BSc and MSc programmes at the Czech Agricultural University in Prague (Česká zemĕldská univerzita v Praze), and is also a project manager for EU-projects. At the present time he is studying for a PhD, specializing in experiential management training. Additionally, Richard continues to deliver training presentations and workshops for the communications industry, travelling to Lagos, Lesotho, Malaysia and Dubai in the last 18 months.
