17th May 2013 Parents and Carers of Children in Mrs Darby’s Class, Richard III Campus Visit (Archaeology & Genetics) and The Guildhall We have been lucky enough to secure a limited number of spaces for our class to attend Leicester University and take part in a Richard III workshop on Wednesday 5th June. During the morning session, the children will explore the School of Archaeology’s involvement with the discovery of King Richard’s remains and the science behind the find. Following the morning session, we will walk along New Walk towards the city centre, stop for lunch and then visit The Richard III exhibition at The Guildhall. Your child/children will be wearing their school uniforms for this visit, with appropriate footwear for walking and waterproofs should it rain. Your child may also need sun cream, a sun hat and sunglasses (should we be lucky enough to have a sunny day!) Your child will also require a full packed lunch with enough water to last them all day. No glass bottles or fizzy drinks please- free school meals will be provided for. Everything they need will be carried by the children themselves in a sturdy rucksack. Both activities are kindly provided free for charge by the University of Leicester. However, to cover the cost of transport, we require a voluntary donation of £4.00 per child. Without this payment, I’m afraid the trip will be cancelled. Thank you again for all your support this year and excellent learning opportunities you have contributed towards. We know it will be a great learning opportunity for us all and look forward to the day. With thanks Mrs Darby and class.
