Learning Together Programme Time Workshop ‘Stamp!’- Art Workshop This ‘Stamp!’ art workshop is a celebration of creative expression, and international arts, culture and Black History Month. 10.20 – 11.20 Design, collage, paint on canvas, and have fun exploring the dynamic patterns and meaning of the Adinkra symbols of West Africa. Suitable for all ages 3+ years Family Histories & Mysteries Come and find out how to get started researching your family history, and mysteries! It’s not about how far back you go, but the stories and characters you find along the way… 10.30 – 11.30 This session will be led by Megan Owens from ‘Find My Past’ TV Series on Yesterday Channel 10.20 – 11.20 12.45 - 13.45 All ages welcome. It Ain’t Rocket Science! 'A fun science session for the whole family, exploring flight and demonstrating scientific concepts in a practical way. Make a rocket you can launch and other fantastic flying objects you can make at home. Limited places! ‘Staying Afloat’ - Cooking on a Budget In this workshop families will be guided through preparing a tasty, simple and healthy family meal on a budget. There will be a ‘how to’ demonstration followed by a hands on cooking experience with hints and tips on economising. Join us for a fun dance workshop where parents/carers and children work together to learn new dance moves and create exciting new choreography!” Suitable for all ages. Wall Art Wall Art is the creation of an unusual 3D landscape sculpture using natural materials and inspiration from the environment. Working at your own level, you will investigate areas of the curriculum, and discover the benefits of this fun and easy activity, which is accessible to all. If you want to know the best methods to stay safe online then come along and learn at our quick thirty minute session and pick up some very handy tips on Internet Safety. This session will be led by Year 10 Forest Hill School ICT students. Suitable for ages 12+. Intergenerational Speed Learning! You have heard of speed dating; now come and experience speed learning! 12.15 – 13.00 14.00 – 14.45 Join in a session of sharing skills and learn up to10 new things in 30 minutes, it could be anything from how to say a few phrases in sign language to how to make a paper crane. Learn with all age groups and discover new ways to share knowledge in a fun and speedy way. All ages welcome! The more the merrier! T-shirt UpCycle 13.15 – 14.15 13.15 – 14.15 Come and 'Upcycle' an old t-shirt and make something new from your old clothes. Learn simple sewing techniques as well as gaining inspiration for making new projects to try at home. Bring an old t-shirt or two that you would like to work on as well as any other bits and bobs you'd like to use or share with the rest of the group. Suitable for all ages from 5 years upwards. Creative Parents: Jewellery Making for Families Fun creative jewellery making for the whole family. Come and experiment with jewellery making techniques using wire, beads and rings, whilst learning how to support your child’s education in a fun and interesting way. 20/09/13 14.00-15.00 15.00 – 16.00 Suitable for adults/parents with children aged 6+. App Inventor (Beginners) Led by Forest Hill School’s very own Year 10 computing wizards, in this session you will build apps by working with the App Inventor Designer and the App Inventor Blocks Editor. You will select components for your app and assemble programs, like pieces of a puzzle, to make your app work and behave to your very own specification. Suitable for ages 12+. Recycled Racers Enjoy the creative challenge of working together to build a unique balloon or rubber band powered vehicle, using recycled and household items, to race or fly and to take home with you.
