 Define/explain the meaning of each word or phrase in your thesis in your own words
 Do not use dictionary or textbook definitions
 Tell what the term will mean in your essay (positively) and clarify what it will not mean or refer to (negatively)
 Define/explain all words in philosophy which are 'loaded words', for example, words in your thesis statement like, 'truth', 'nature', 'society', and 'wisdom'.
 Do not skimp-be very precise about what you want your thesis to mean to the reader-don't leave any room or possibility for misinterpretation or contradiction-try to cover all the bases
 Include any other relevant commentary that will help the reader to know where you are coming from and to know where you are going with your thesis statement
