Dear Parents and Guardians:
Your child’s third quarter report card has been posted online in Parent Portal. Please take some
time and review it with your child. Remind them to stay focused on their course work as we approach the
end of the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s guidance
counselor or classroom teacher.
AP exams will take place May 4th through May 15th at Saint Matthew’s Church. Students
enrolled in AP classes should verify the time of their exam(s) and arrive at least 15 minutes before the
posted start time. If students require transportation to and/or from their exam, they must contact the
Guidance Office so that transportation arrangements can be made.
Annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon – On Wednesday, May 6th the Voorheesville PTA will be
honoring all teachers and staff (including secretaries, administrators, Board of Education members, bus
drivers, support personnel, special area teachers, custodial and cafeteria personnel) with a special Staff
Appreciation Luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To volunteer and/or to donate food, please contact
Sue Keenan (smc320@aol.com or 765-5999) or Shelly Connolly (hconnoll@nycap.rr.com or 439-3385).
The Junior Prom will be held on Friday, May 29 at the River Stone Manor in Glenville. All
students attending Prom are required to be in school until dismissal. High school students will be
dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Attendance records will be on hand as students arrive at Prom for verification. If a
student was not present in school or left early, they will not be granted admittance to the Prom. Tickets
are non-refundable. As we get closer to Prom, please discuss with your child the importance of making
wise choices. Parents are encouraged to visit the following website to obtain important information
regarding Prom: https://sites.google.com/a/voorheesville.org/clubsyoung/
A reminder to community members regarding the upcoming Budget Vote: The district’s budget
vote will take place on Tuesday, May 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the middle school Foyer.
The high school Guidance Office encourages sophomores and juniors who may be interested in
attending a more competitive college in the future to sign up for the SAT II Subject Tests this year. Tests
are available in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, World History, French, Spanish, Hebrew
and other foreign languages. Students can take up to three exams at one sitting. The registration deadline
for the June 6th exams is Thursday, May 8th. For more information, please contact the high school
Guidance Office or visit the College Board website at www.collegeboard.com.

The district grounds crew requests that family or community members who attend sporting events
at the high school or satellite fields refrain from parking vehicles on the grass. Pulling cars onto the
playing fields interferes with the maintenance of school property. Thank you for your cooperation.
Finally, as the weather gets warmer, I would appreciate your assistance in reinforcing with your
child(ren) appropriate student dress. According to our Code of Conduct and Student Guidelines,
“…inappropriate dress is defined as any wearing apparel that would be a distractive, hazardous or
offensive to other students or staff (e.g. this would include, but not be limited to halter tops, offensively
printed attire, sharp or dangerously spiked clothes). Shorts of mid-thigh length may be worn.” All
underclothes should be covered and footwear must be worn at all times. Teachers will notify students of
inappropriate dress and will refer them to the Associate Principal’s office. If additional clothes are not
available to the student, parents will be called. I appreciate your cooperation and assistance on this
matter.
As of today, there are 41 school days remaining, 32 days until the start of final exams. Details
regarding final exams and graduation will be available at the end of May.
