TERMS OF THE APPLICATION
THE GALLERY, AND ARTIST COOPERATIVE PROVIDES:






Exhibition space for display of original fine art, including 2-D and 3-D work such as
painting, sculpture, ceramics, fine crafts, hand-crafted jewelry, fabric arts and photography;
Utilities;
Liability insurance;
Sales Tax collection on gallery sales;
Advertising; and
Other related expenses for the day-to-day operation of the gallery.
PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:









Are subject to jurying for membership in the cooperative, with 2-D and 3-D works juried
separately.
Pay dues as set forth in the Gallery-Artist Contract.
May display their work in the gallery. Space is allocated as evenly as possible based on
now many artists are currently members. Work deemed inappropriate by the group will not be
shown.
Agree to gallery procedures for handling all sales transactions, including work
commissioned through the gallery.
Are required to sit as staff in the gallery a minimum of 8 to 12 hours a month (3 4-hour or 1
8-hour shifts are both acceptable). The hours changes depending on season and number of
member.
Are required to attend monthly Gallery Walks, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of
each month. The public has the opportunity to see the new show and also meet the artists.
Are required to serve on a committee, such as hanging, take-down, publicity, etc.—the
success of the gallery depends on the members’ voluntary help in all areas of the business they
feel qualified for.
Are required to attend monthly cooperative business meetings.
Are voting members, and are expected to participate in the decisions of the group.
DUES AND FEES:
There is a one-time buy in fee of $200.00 and monthly fees are $85.00 per month The
Gallery requires two months dues plus the buy-in fee which brings the total joining cost to
$370.00.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Application materials are available and can be downloaded from the Gallery 9 website:
www.gallery-9.com. If you have difficulty acquiring the application materials and you will be
referred to the gallery member listed below who can assist you. Complete the application and
submit it to Gallery 9 (address below) in care of:

Upon receipt of the application a member of Gallery 9 will contact you and arrange for the
jurying of your work.
Jurying ordinarily takes place at the beginning of the next regular business meeting of the
Gallery 9 membership. The membership meetings are held on the Monday preceding the first
Saturday of the following month which is Gallery Walk. The meeting usually starts at 6:00 pm
and is held at the Gallery:

You should arrive a few minutes before the start of the meeting and have a bio and resume and
representative samples of your work. The sample should consist of anywhere from six to ten
pieces depending on size, weight, etc. The member in charge of the jury process will be there
to meet you and introduce you to the gallery members.
Following the introduction you will be asked to talk about your background, your work and
why you are interested in Gallery 9 membership. Members will ask questions and discuss with
you your work and your interest in membership.
Following the discussion you will be asked to gather your art and leave. The membership will
then discuss your application and then vote to admit you as a member or not. A 60%
affirmative vote is required for membership.
You will be notified of the outcome the following day. There are occasions when either the 2D
or 3D membership is at capacity and you would be placed on a waiting list in order of your
time of acceptance. You will be notified of this at your time of application.
The following should be sent back to the jury at info@gallery-9.com where it will be circulated
through the membership prior to jurying.
