Want to be a star for three nights? Get your act together for the Mad River Valley’s 27 th annual variety show: Cabin Fever Follies. Auditions for the follies are on Wednesday,

February 12, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Valley Players Theater, Rte 100 in Waitsfield.

Singing, dancing, juggling, storytelling, magic, mime, wherever your talent lies, most acts are encouraged. Acts should be brief and self-contained (we do have a great piano player if needed). All acts are expected to be on stage all three show nights which are

Friday through Sunday, March 21, 22, 23. Can’t make Auditions? Call Director, Doug

Bergstein (496-6651) or Sharon Kellermann (793-8362) for information or if you can’t make auditions, but have an act or would like to volunteer.

We also need Raisinettes. These are those sign toting, highly visible walking commercials that raise money for charity each year. This year the charity is Vermont

Cancer Survivor Network. Dressed in Raisinette costumes personally embellished with hats, gloves, sunglasses, tutus and any other bit of nonsense, these intrepid souls trip across the stage bearing signs to the beat of “Grapevine”. This activity is for those who wish to participate but remain relatively anonymous. Sign makers are also needed!

Contact Sharon Kellermann at 793-8362 if that sounds like fun or if you want more information.

Reservations for the show will open on February 13, call 583-1674 or email valleyplayers@madriver.com. For more information, try the website: www.valleyplayers.com, it may or may not be up to date!

2. FREE Winter Workshop ~ Feb. 15

Have you ever wondered what goes into a stage product ion, but don’t have the time to commit to a full show? The Valley Players will be opening the theater from 9am-12pm on February 15, 2014 for a

Lighting Workshop with Lighting Designer Wendy Stephens for hopefully the first workshop of many.

Learn the basics of what makes up a theater light, how color effects a scene and how those basics can light up the stage.

The Vermont Association of Theatre and Theatre Artists (VATTA) announces its 27th annual statewide auditions for theater and film/video actors and interviews for tech, design, management, directing, producing, and choreographic personnel. The “VATTAs” will be held Saturday March 8 th , from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, at

Chandler in Randolph, Vermont. They will be followed at 2:00 PM by a Town Meeting to discuss the future of theater and film in Vermont.

This annual event is an excellent opportunity for talented and skilled stage and screen personnel of all ages to meet with, and/or audition for, the 15-member Producers’ Circle of theatre companies and film directors and agents. This year the Circle has been widened to include community theaters, casting agents, indie producers, and directors of stage, film, and video throughout Vermont.

For acting registrants, the day includes both auditions and follow-up access with Producers’ Circle members.

Each auditioner will receive comment sheets from producers and will then be able to speak directly with them during scheduled round-robin times.

Non-acting registrants hoping to expand their experiences in design, playwriting, directing, producing, choreography, or arts management, or who have technical skills, will sign up for interviews with the Producers’

Circle members.

The schedule for the day is as follows

-- 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM: auditions for actors, plus follow-ups with Producers’ Circle members

-- 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: interviews for non-acting personnel with Producers’ Circle members

-- 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: open meeting for folks interested in theater’s/film’s future here

The $10 registration fee covers snacks and beverages and contributes to the costs of organizing this annual event.

Those interested in participating in auditions or interviews are encouraged to register by March 1st, as there is no guarantee that walk-ins can be accommodated. For details about how to register, what materials to send, and how to pay the fee, contact Gene Heinrich, Coordinator at weeb@writingraw.com
