Auditions
Performances





April 14 at LHS; or April 16 at
FMS. Come anytime between
3pm-5pm on either day.
You can come to either audition,
whichever
best
fits
your
schedule.
20 – 30 teens will be selected for
the program based on the
auditions.

There will be an Audition Workshop on
Tuesday, April 7 after school at FMS
where you will learn what to expect from
auditions, along with some great
audition techniques. This session is not
required to audition, but you may find it
helpful.
Rehearsals

Will take place in the NCTC
Theater from July 22 through
August 3 during the day (time to
be determined)
Performances for the public will
take place on August 4, 5, and 6
at 7pm at the Northland
Community
and
Technical
College Theater.
Cost:


$125 per participant, which
covers all instruction, coaching,
and costumes.
Participants may be required to
supply their own footwear and
makeup.
SCHOLARSHIPS Partial Scholarships
may be awarded; more information to
follow.
GRANTS There is a great opportunity
for 8th through 12th graders for grants!
The Northwest Regional Arts Council
has
Student
Artist
Scholarships
available; however, the applications are
DUE MARCH 15, so you need to apply
soon.
In addition to rehearsals, you will also
receive small group tutorial on:






Audition Techniques
Voice Lessons
Dance Techniques
Acting Coaching
Basic Theater Training
Technical Theater experience
Those who apply and are awarded
these grants will be given S.T.A.R.
admission priority and will receive
additional individualized instruction,
including private/small group dance,
acting and vocal coaching. This grant
also includes money for supplies, which
may include dance footwear or theater
makeup.

About the Show

Lacy Simoneau (Choreography) has
performed with the TRFACT in many
productions. She has also directed
children’s theater groups with the TRF
Comm. Ed. Lacey choreographed the
2014 musical The Fantastiks.

Kristin Buckley (Rehearsal Accomp)
has a Bachelor of Music degree in flute
performance and music education from
Concordia College. She is the band
director at Franklin Middle School in
TRF.
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the
Hat and other characters from the
whimsical imagination of Dr. Seuss
come together in this musical
featuring a score by Lynn Ahrens and
Stephen Flaherty.
Seussical debuted on Broadway in
2000. The play's story is a mash-up
of many of Seuss's most famous
books. Along with a fabulous score, it

has become a favorite for school,
community and regional theaters.

Phil McKenzie (Music direction) holds
music degrees from University of North
Dakota and Michigan State University.
He performed as oboist with the Virginia
Symphony. With TRFACT Phil has
conducted the orchestra for Anything
Goes, The Producers, and Annie.

Sherry Knott (Vocal director) has a B.S.
in Music Ed. with a vocal emphasis.
Sherry has taught voice, piano and
directed choirs and ensembles over the
past 20 years. She has acted in many
area productions. Sherry is on the
TRFACT board.
Jane Anderson (Acting/Voice) holds a
B.A. in music performance from Bemidji
State University. She has performed in
many TRFACT productions. Her
favorite role was as Reno Sweeney in
Anything Goes. Jane is the Executive
Director of TRFACT.
