March 16 Christian Peace Witness for Iraq in Washington DC. For
information on travel from Lawrence, contact ECM. Check web site for
information on other activites for the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
March 17 1pm St Patrick's Day Parade
April 19th 7pm Evening of Arts for Peace, Unity Church
Meeting held at CJ's due unavailabilty of the church.
Tom and Anne Moore Peace and Justice Award.
Committee is Allan Hanson, Bruce Smith, and Jean Drumm. Allan said there are
no new nominations for this year--please put your minds to that. Active members
of LCPJ are not eligible to be nominated, but all are encouraged to provide
nominations.
St Patrick's Day Parade
We discussed use of flat bed truck with "War is not Healthy for Children and
Other Living Things" on two pieces of plywood. There will be something with
"the real green zone." Proposal and money must be sent by March 1. We
agreed to provide whatever funding would be needed.
Earth Day.
We could reuse the float, and Environmentalists for Bush will probably also
participate. Joe will send in application for Earth Day parade. Anne will send
him the specs so he can use them in the application.
Evening of Arts for Peace.
Will try for chalk messages, interviews for radio, Lawrencian, Face Book, Oz will
look for poets, Anne B, Retta, England will help with publicity
Web Site.
We discussed the web site. Generally people liked the variety of content, both
general information and current LCPJ activities. Christine posts much of the
information. Content can go to her or Oz, and comments on the site to Oz (on
the site).
Sir No Sir
Sir-No Sir committee was not at meeting. Apparently Kansas Mutual Aid is
considering March 24 at ECM. to show the film.
Meeting with Rep. Nancy Boyda
Retta reported on meeting with Nancy Boyda with MAPJ and Topeka P&J.
Boyda said she could not deny support to committed troops. However, she did
oppose any action against Iran and would vote for a resolution opposed to the
war. She apologized for what she said on ABC News, which alienated both
liberals and conservatives, saying that she would not oppose a Bush initiative
because he is the Commander in Chief.
Miscellaneous Business
Christine will see that Linda posts the January minutes. Mark gave the
Treasurer's report.
Christine sent information to Report on the Nation but has not heard back.
Postcard campaign did not work due to cold weather, but we willtry again..
Christine will check with Rhiannon about snake dance for peace.
ECM will put up a wall and have other activities to inform people about the
situation in Israel/Palestine.
