Senior Class 2016 Welcome Letter

Hello Class of 2016! You made it to Senior Year – woo hoo!
As your class advisors, we would like to take this opportunity to tell you some important information that
will hopefully make this year run more smoothly for you since it will be a year with much excitement and
responsibility. Some important information for upcoming school events and topics is below. Please also
share this information with your parent(s)!
Homecoming
Homecoming is an exciting time at Hodgson! The date for the game and dance is Saturday, October 10th
and the dance is from 7:30-10:30 p.m. We will need a committee of seniors to help design and create our
homecoming wall for the cafeteria that will go up the week before Homecoming to display our school spirit
– please tell us if you are interested in helping as soon as possible. Also, listen for more Homecoming
morning announcements about wall decorating and ticket sales; each student may bring one outside guest
maximum to the dance but guest passes are required. Before shopping for a Homecoming outfit, be sure
to view the Student Activities Fashion PDF on the Hodgson external website’s Senior Page link that
explains what will be allowed or not so there are no problems later.
Class Officers/Class Meetings
Our class officers from last year are continuing this year. They are Nyleja “Leila” Rose as the president
and Ayana Brown as the vice-president. If you have any questions about senior year, feel free to ask them.
Class Trip
Voting for the senior trip will take place at the Mandatory Senior Meeting on November 4, 2015. Once
decided, deposits will be collected and a minimum number of students per selected trip must be met.
Prom
This year’s Junior/Senior Prom will be held on May 13, 2016 from 7:00- 11:00 p.m. at the Chase
Center at the Riverfront in downtown Wilmington. Before shopping for an outfit (dress or tuxedo),
be sure to view the Student Activities Fashion PDF on the Hodgson external website’s Senior Page link
that explains what will be allowed or not so there are no problems later.
Fundraisers and Class Accounts
To help offset some expenses that you will have over your last year and to raise money for the Class of
2016, we will again have fundraisers. Information about this year’s fundraisers (Joe Corbi’s and Krispy
Kreme) is attached to this newsletter and both are DUE NO LATER THAN MONDAY,
SEPTEMBER 28th. Once the fundraisers are complete, a student account will be created (or, if you have
an account from the last three years, it will be added to) that you can use throughout high school for things
like class trips, dance tickets, senior dues, etc. Remember that fundraising will really help lessen the costs
of your high school activities overall. If you have a class account already and want to purchase something,
please see Mrs. Berkey in Room 204 to do so.
Senior Tshirt/Hoodie
Senior Tshirts and Hoodie Orders pre-orders are being taken now. They are NOT part of your senior dues
and must be ordered separately. If you are interested, please complete the order form and return it with the
money by September 28th. There will only be ONE order this year.
Last but not least, we would like to extend an invitation to all of you. We will be with you as your advisors
for this last year and we want all of you to be happy with your high school years. If there is anything we
can help you with or you have any suggestions, please let us know. Stop by or leave a note for either one
of us in our mailbox in the main office. We wish you good luck this year!
Mr. Antonio (Student Advisor’s Office) and Mrs. Berkey (Room 204)
On the back is a list of events and senior expenses (some required, some optional)
