ANNAWAN UNIT DISTRICT NO 226 REGULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING APRIL 15, 2015 4:30PM THE REGULAR MEETING of the Board of Education of Annawan Unit District No 226 was held in the Unit Office of the Annawan High School on April 15, 2015 at 4:30PM. President Dwaine Shaw Jr called the meeting to order. On roll call those present were Brian Childs, Kim Goodley, Nancy Goodman, Jerad Heitzler, Al Landwehr , Courtney Rico and Dwaine Shaw Jr. Others present were Superintendent Buresh, Wayne Brau, Lana Wolf, Chris Kidd, Tammy Celus and Whitney Walker, AEA representatives, Caitlyn DeMay, AD, John Rosenberry and Cathy Foes. CONSENT AGENDA - Motion made by Heitzler and seconded by Rico to approve the following items under the Consent Agenda. Voting YES were Childs, Goodley, Goodman, Heitzler, Landwehr, Rico and Shaw. Motion carried. March 18, 2015 Regular Board of Education Meeting March 2015 Treasurer’s Report March 2015 Investment Report, Activity Fund & Imprest Fund Reports April 2015 Bills and Payroll Resolution JOE BURESH, SUPERINTENDENT COMMUNICATIONS –1) Reported the unofficial results of the school board election with Jerad Heitzler, John Rosenberry, Nancy Goodman and Cathy Foes as being elected for a four year term; 2) Re-Organizational meeting is scheduled for April 29, 2015 at 4:30pm in the Unit Office; 3) Board Training Meeting for newly elected board members to follow the meeting. WAYNE BRAU_ ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL Reported - - 1) PARCC testing dates will be April 27-30th; 2) Grade School and Junior High activities for the month: 3) Grade School Open House on May 13th; 4) Presented the 8th grade promotion list; 5) Request for IESA Membership renewal. HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL-JOE BURESH/LANA WOLF Reported- 1) High School activities for the month; 20 Act testing results; 3) April students of the month; 4) Graduation set for May 17th at 2:00pm; 5) PARCC testing; 6) High School awards night will be May 11th. ATHLETIC DIRECTOR–Caitlyn DeMay- 1) Update on spring sports; 2) Summer sports are being scheduled. BOARD COMMITTEE REPORTS Special Education-NONE Building-NONE Transportation-Repairs needed on bus- will be checking on price. Finance- Reviewed the third quarter Financial Report showing 60% of Revenues had been received and have spent 76% of expenditures. The FY2015 Budget is being amended to reflect the bond payment that was omitted from original budget. APPROVAL OF AMENDED BUDGET FOR FY2015 & SET BUDGET HEARING MEETING- Moved by Heitzler and seconded by Goodley to approve the amended budget with Revenues of $3,949,754 and expenditures of $4,762,101 showing a deficit of $812,347. The Budget Hearing will be held on May 20, 2015 at 4:5PM. On roll call those voting YES were Childs, Goodley, Heitzler, Landwehr, Rico and Shaw. Voting NO was Goodman. Motion carried. 1ST READING OF STUDENT & ATHLETIC HANDBOOK- Moved by Landwehr and seconded by Heitzler to approve handbook with Dual Enrollment guidelines removed at this time. Call vote. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF IHSA & IESA MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS FOR FY 2015-2016- Moved by Heitzler and seconded by Childs to approve. Call vote. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION LIST- Moved by Goodley and seconded by Landwehr to approve. Call vote. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF 8TH GRADE PROMOTION LIST- Moved by Childs and seconded by Goodley to approve. Call vote. Motion carried. CLOSED SESSION- 5:17PM-Moved by Heitzler and seconded by Childs to go into closed session to discuss personnel. Call vote. Motion carried. MEETING RE-CONVENED- 6:05PM – On roll call members present were Childs, Goodley, Goodman, Heitzler, Rico, Landwehr and Shaw. APPROVAL OF March18, 2015 Closed Session Minutes- Moved by Goodman and seconded by Landwehr to approve. Call vote. Motion carried.
