Solid dispersion, film coating of pellets and wet granulation 2 Dr.Dalia Mahmoud Ghorab techniques were applied for sustaining the release rate of (NCH). Attempts have been made to design special delivery system for (NCH) so as to remain buoyant on the stomach contents and increasing the gastric residence time of the drug. in vitro evaluation of the prepared floating capsules in comparison to the commercially available brand of (NCH) revealed the success of the new special design. 2000-2002: In the PHD work two antihypertensive drugs were introduced to control their release through the formulation of floating systems. The first is furosemide, a loop diuretic. The second is verapamil hydrochloride, a calcium channel blocker. Formulation of furosemide floating capsules was achieved. The relative bioavailability of the prepared capsules when compared to lasix tablets was found to be 180.9%. Also floating microspheres of verapamil hydrochloride were prepared and their relative bioavailability when compared to isopten retard was found to be almost the same.
