THE VENUE: HOTEL PALATINUS IN PÉCS
ASSOCIATION OF
HUNGARIAN
GEOPHYSICISTS
The ‘jewel of the golden age’, Hotel Palatinus, serving as venue of the meeting, is in the prime shopping street in the historic centre facing the main square of
Pécs. Its stylish restaurant, grand ballroom and imposing entrance hall (see
www.danubiushotels.com/palatinus ) are Art-Nouveau masterpieces.
Even in prehistoric times man found shelter and a place to settle in this region. Protected by the Mecsek hill, the Roman settlement of Sopianae had already
become a city 2000 years ago. Having some Ottoman relics, it deserves the slogan
‘the city of Mediterranean impressions’. Pécs is the capital of the Baranya county
and a region, and will be a Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010 (see en.pecs.hu ).
REGISTRATION
Registration fees: 45 000 HUF/person (before 15th August), 50 000 HUF (after 15th August), approximately 165 EUR and 180 EUR, respectively. Registration
fee includes: publications, lunches, refreshments, interpretation service, the dinner,
social meeting, and the Bátaapáti visit (but does not contain accommodation costs).
Registration form can be downloading from the website of the Meeting:
www.mageof.hu/autumnmeeting.
