Blended Course
Because this is a Blended Course, you will be watching the lectures online, taking your lecture
quizzes online, and taking your lecture exams online. Laboratory will be face-to-face, each lab quiz
will be face-to-face, and each laboratory practical will be face-to-face.
Course Description
This course continues the study of the anatomy and physiology of the human body with emphasis on
body structure and function. Topics covered include: Special Senses; Endocrine, Cardiovascular,
Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive Systems; Pregnancy and Development;
Metabolism; and Fluid-Electrolyte and Acid-Base Balance.
Lecture (3 hours) and Laboratory (2 hours). Credit 4 units. Prerequisites: Anatomy and Physiology I.
Contact Information
Instructor: Dr. Jonasson

Prerequisites or Corequisites
BIOL 2214 – Anatomy and Physiology I with “C” or better.
Rationale for Course
A continuation of BIOL 2214 (A & P I). To equip students with a fundamental knowledge of how the
human body operates and what can go wrong. This includes naming, locating and defining the
functions of major body organ systems not covered by A & P I.
Audience for the Course
Students planning a major in any Allied Health Field or degrees in biological sciences and related
areas.
Next Course in Sequence
None
Success Strategy
To succeed in Anatomy & Physiology use the 3 R's consistently. Review, review, review. Use as
many of the study assist materials as you can possibly manage, form a study group and work with
your group both in exam preparation and in the lab. Daily review will prevent potential overload in this
challenging course.

Course Policies
Evaluation is based upon cumulative scores. You may determine your grade in the class at any time
by taking your total and dividing by the possible point total.
A = 90%
B = 80%
C = 70%
D = 60%
Scores will be posted to the Gradebook, and updated regularly. If the score you seek has not yet
posted, it means that scoring is not complete. Calling or emailing the instructor will not accelerate
grade posting.
Exams
Plan to take the exams when they are offered. Questions for exams originate from lecture, lab, and
associated reading. You may expect an occasional quiz. Missed quizzes may not be taken later.
One missed exam may be made up during Final Exam time as scheduled during Fall and Spring
Terms. Missed exam make-ups will be essay format. Regarding incompletes please refer to the
Northark College Catalog and Student Handbook for specifics on this topic.
Practicals & Labs
You will need the information from the Histology Slide List (located in Course Materials) for each
laboratory in which we use the microscope. Print a copy for your reference during lab. You will also
find useful the Lab supplement sheets available in Course Documents under Labs. Bring this
information to lab to assist you.
A missed lab practical may not be made up.
Attendance
Please attend all laboratory periods and arrive promptly. Refer to the Northark College Catalog and
Student Handbook for specifics on this topic.
Conduct
Turn off your cell phones before you enter lecture and lab. Come prepared to succeed, contribute to
the learning atmosphere, and clean up after yourself. Regarding academic dishonesty please refer to
the Northark College Catalog and Student Handbook for specifics on this topic.
Student Score Review
All questions and concerns regarding exam, quiz, or practical scores must be resolved by meeting
with the instructor (see office hours posted on office door) within 2 weeks of the score's posting.
