Monday
Warm-Up: Review with your group members the meaning of ESPN.
Classwork: Students will use the textbook to learn about ESPN of significant countries of the Middle East:
[North Africa] Egypt-(pgs. 100-101), Libya-(pgs. 101-102, and The Maghreb: Tunisia, Algeria, and
Morocco-(pgs. 102-103.) They will use the information on Friday to complete a “Concept Map” which will
then be used to complete a graphic organizer on the S.H.A.P.E. of the Middle East. They will complete Guided
Reading sheet on section 1. The skill to be completed is “Reading for Accuracy.”

Classwork: Students will continue with same information by using the textbook to write the ESPN of
significant countries of the Middle East: Turkey-(pgs. 105-106) and Israel-(pgs. 107-108). They will use the
information on Friday to complete a “Concept Map” which will then be used to complete a graphic organizer on
the S.H.A.P.E. of the Middle East. They will complete Guided Reading sheet on section 2. The skill to be
completed is a cloze activity [“Filling in the Blank”].

then be used to complete a graphic organizer on the S.H.A.P.E. of the Middle East. They will complete Guided
Reading sheet on section 3. The skill to be completed is “Answering Questions.”

organizer on the S.H.A.P.E. of the Middle East. They will complete Guided Reading sheet on section 4. The
skill to be completed is “Outlining.”

Middle East [North Africa and Southwest Asia]. Students will include the information from the charts and notes
on religion from last week, as well as the information on Mesopotamia and Egypt
