Hit Originals Return
SPN and ESPN Deportes differ not only in the language
in which they are broadcast, but
also in their programming focus,
highlights, target audience, and
cultural perspective.
ESPN is centered on American
culture with an American perspective to sports. It focuses primarily
on America’s pastimes including
baseball, basketball, and American
football. Although this has proven
to be a great success, ESPN could
not ignore what has become a
huge demographic in the United
States: Latinos. In response,
ESPN Deportes was born! Based
upon a completely different set of
cultural perspectives and demographic, ESPN Deportes is a
unique network that presents
BC Family premiered the
second season of its highest
rated original primetime drama,
Wildfire in January. Change comes

ESPN Deportes understands
Latin sports fans and recognizes
Latinos love sports, but they do
so in a different way than nonLatinos. ESPN Deportes was created to deliver programming
Latino sports fans want, with a
style and passion they relate to
and appreciate. Commentators
not only speak their language,
but their lingo, and talk about the
people and issues that interest
Latino sports fans. ESPN Deportes

ready for it? A close call puts Kris
and Wildfire in the limelight. How
will Kris adjust to fame and how will
it affect those closest to her? The
stakes are higher than ever as she
decides who to trust, who to let into
her heart and who to let go of forever.
Nobody said it was going to be easy.
Dirty tricks, old grudges and offers
too good to refuse set the stage for
change at Raintree.
The second season returns with 13
new episodes, Monday’s 8-9PM ET/PT.
Season 1 of Wildfire averaged a
1.6HH rating and over 1.9 million
total viewers each week.
Beginning March 6th (exact
time TBD) Beautiful People
returns with all new episodes.
Sophie, Lynn (Daphne Zuniga)
and Karen return, and continue to
chase their dreams in New York
City. Along the way a single mother and her two daughters will
come face to face with challenges
living in a big city. Situations,
society and people will test them
in every way. If they stick together,
the three of them just might
teach New York a thing or
two…like what it really means to
be “Beautiful People.”
Season 1 of Beautiful People
averaged a 1.0HH rating for the
first 8 episodes of the season.
Both series have rated extremely
well with young adults. (W18-34 &

great original series targeting this
key demographic and increase your

The Spending Power
of Women
ome interesting information
has come to light recently
concerning women and spending
on electronic gear. According to
research from the Consumer
Electronics Association (CEA)
women spent $55 billion of the
$96 billion spent on tech products last year. Women also control 85 percent of household
income in the U.S., which adds
up to almost $3.5 trillion in
annual spending, according to
American Demographics.
CEA launched a “Technology
is a Girls Best Friend” program
in 2002 and found
through the inaugural
study that women
said they would
rather have an HDTV
than a 1-carat diamond ring. A very
significant statement,
plus a compelling
story for SOAPnet
advertising sales.
S
SOAPnet tied as the #10
ranked basic cable network with
Women 18-49 (0.5) in prime,
making this the fifth consecutive
year that SOAPnet finished in the
top 10. Now in nearly 47 million
homes, SOAPnet is up +19% in
distribution, making
it the #1 cable
network in
year-to-year
growth.
