EasyCBM Vocabulary Benchmark, Intervention, and Progress Monitoring
(Update, 1/20/16)
New guidelines are in place for intervention/progress monitoring in Vocabulary and
Comprehension.
1. Students will complete the Vocabulary benchmark test at the same time they
complete the Reading Comprehension benchmark test. Vocabulary is viewed as a
skill set that is part of comprehension.
2. If a student obtains a Tier 1 score in Comprehension, but is below Tier 1 in
Vocabulary, then the student will likely benefit from activities in the general
education setting to improve vocabulary; however, Tier 2 or 3 interventions and
progress monitoring is not required in RTI2.
3. If both Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension are below Tier 1, the data team
determines if Vocabulary intervention should be part of the plan to improve
Reading Comprehension. If so, the student intervention plan would reflect
intervention in both Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension; however, progress
monitoring is completed in Reading Comprehension only.
