NEWS RELEASE: Eaton County Wins Big at 2008 WRAP
Awards Luncheon!
Waste Reduction Awards Program announces 2008 winners
News Release
April 21, 2008
CHARLOTTE, Mich. — Each year the Waste Reduction Awards Program
(WRAP) honors the exemplary waste reduction, recycling and reuse efforts
of businesses, schools, non-profits, government entities and individuals
within the tri-county region. This year, more applications were submitted
than in any year since the program’s inception six years ago!
“It’s difficult to get people to brag about their efforts and apply for a WRAP
award,” says Eaton County Department of Resource Recovery Coordinator,
Lisa Lafferty. “But what those people don’t realize is, by doing so they are
educating and encouraging others to do the same”. And that’s exactly why
WRAP exists.
During the sixth annual WRAP Awards Luncheon, guests enjoyed keynote
speaker J. Peter Lark, General Manager of the Lansing Board of Water and
Light. Fox 47 Anchor Beth Shayne acted as emcee and local musician
Joshua Davis performed.
Congratulations to the 2008 winners! From Eaton County: General Motors
Delta Plant, Charlotte Area Recycling Authority, Dan Plowman of Sunfield
Recycling Center, Dart Bank and Eaton Intermediate School District. Other
winners include, Brandon Hull and Barbara Reeves (Ingham County),
Community Chemistry Students from St. Johns High School, The Draft
House, and Sleepy Hollow State Park (Clinton County). Winners received a
plaque made from recycled glass engraved with their name and the WRAP
logo.
A special thank you to the following nominees who were presented with a
certificate at Friday’s WRAP Awards luncheon: EnergyWise, Janice
Vedder, Ryder, Polly Products, Art Van Furniture, and Mary DeBord from
Eaton County, Windemere Park Academy, Jerry Richards, Haslett Middle
School, Ingham County Fair, KEBS, Inc., S.K.Y. Corporation and TriCounty Office on Aging from Ingham County.
