Guidelines for Conservation Paper and Presentation
Groups of 3 above and beyond the A criteria, please.
For an A Paper and Presentation
Paper
Ten (10) references from SCHOLARLY journals
Clear outline and flow of paper
All ideas very well presented and supported with evidence from references
All information current and accurate
Use of topic sentences and proper sentence structure in all paragraphs
No spelling and/or grammar errors
Presentation
Clear logical flow to your presentation
An excellent introduction and summary slide
Accurate information on every slide
Knowledgeable answers to questions
Engaging with the audience, eye contact and well practiced
Within the allotted time
For a B Paper and Presentation
Paper
Eight references from scholarly journals
Mostly clear flow to paper
Most ideas clearly presented and supported with evidence from references
Information is mostly current, some older sources, and all accurate
Most paragraphs have topic sentences and proper sentence structure
Few (< 5) grammar and/or spelling errors
Presentation
Mostly clear flow, some repetitious slides or gaps in the presentation
An adequate introduction and summary slide
Accurate information on every slide
Reasonable answers to questions
Engaging, but looks at the screen a bit much
A bit over or under the allotted time
For a C Paper and Presentation
Paper
Seven or fewer references from a scholarly journals
Paper does not have a good flow
Ideas are jumbled and not well supported with references
Information is rarely current
Many (> 6) grammar/spelling errors

Presentation
Slides show major gaps in the presentation
Only a cursory introductory and summary slide
Accurate information not present on every slide
Answers to questions are not well thought out
Looks and screen and reads text
Disregard for allotted time
GENERAL FORMATTING
PLEASE do NOT use a report cover or binder or any such thing for your paper.
Do use 1 inch margins and 12 point font in Times, Times New Roman font.
Your report should be approximately 10 pages of text. Please don’t go much over this
limit. Do use subtitles and remember to number your pages.
Use APA formatting, which is (Author, Year). Use evidence to back up your statements.
For your presentation, plan on 20 minutes of presentation and ten minutes of questions.
You may bring your presentation on a traveldrive or a c.d. and run it on my machine, or
you may bring your own laptop.
You may bring props/ maps/ handouts etc. to your presentation.
Remember the rules we talked about to make a clear Powerpoint presentation.
