IMPORTANT ACCREDITATION INFORMATION To: All Parents and JISD Stakeholders Subject: Assignment of Accreditation Status to the Jonesboro ISD The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the 2015-2016 accreditation status of the JONESBORO ISD is Not Accredited-Revoked. Under state law, the accreditation statuses that may be assigned to districts include Accredited, Accredited-Warned, Accredited-Probation, and Not Accredited-Revoked. A status of Not Accredited-Revoked means that a district exhibits deficiencies in performance that have led to revocation of the district’s accreditation status. A Not Accredited-Revoked status means that the TEA no longer recognizes the district as a Texas public school. Districts with an accreditation status below Accredited also may be subject to additional accreditation sanctions as referenced in statute and rule. The JONESBORO ISD has been assigned a Not Accredited-Revoked status due to the ratings assigned to the district in the state’s ACADEMIC ACCOUNTABILITY RATING SYSTEM AND/OR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING SYSTEM. Specifically, the JONESBORO ISD was assigned 2008-2009, 20092010, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, AND 2013-2014 FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING OF SUBSTANDARD ACHIEVEMENT AND 2015 ACADEMIC ACCOUNTABILITY RATING OF IMPROVEMENT REQUIRED. The district is taking the following steps to address the areas of identified deficiency. 1) 2) 3) 4) Addition of key personnel (4 Certified Teachers, Principal, and School Counselor) Increased Budget for classroom resources to be utilized for higher quality instruction Utilizing Quality Longitudinal Data to identify grade level and district deficiencies Increased Monitoring of Instruction (Superintendent, Principal, and Counselor have all been trained in T-TESS and contracted with a PSP to give additional monitoring; Superintendent has been trained in T-PESS) 5) Improved Benchmarking for students with a narrowed scope of emphasis on targeted needs 6) Utilization of Region 12 ESC to provide on-site Instructional Coaching in Math and Science 7) Enhanced Technology Capabilities and Opportunities for teachers and students 8) Purchase of Science, Math, ELA, and Social Studies Curriculum 9) Utilization of online resources (IXL, Reading Plus, Spelling City, Lexia, Eduphoria, Lead4Ward, XtraMath, Dibles, Renaissance Learning) 10) Extended Class Periods 11) Increased Vertical Alignment and Cross Curricular Collaboration 12) Targeted Professional Development for all Faculty and Staff 13) Targeted after school Tutoring (Student Transportation Included) 14) Saturday Learning Academies for all Core Subjects (Student Transportation Included) 15) Creation of the Buddy Program to utilize Cross Grade Level Student Tutoring 16) More Community and Business involvement opportunities (Back to School Night, PTO expansion, Booster Club Involvement, Local Church Involvement, Career/Community Presentations to Students – AHEC, Hamilton Healthcare System, JVFD, TSTC, Coryell Vet Clinic, U.S. Armed Forces Presentations, etc…, Santa Shop, Alumni Letter and Meeting) 17) Promotion of Dual Credit program through scholarship money raised by local community 18) Improved Communication with Parents and Stakeholders (Jonesboro ISD Website, Jonesboro ISD Facebook Page, Purchased Student Planners for all students K-12, Student Report Card Delivery Method, Required Phone logs from all Faculty and Staff, Utilization of the Parent Portal) 19) Continued Facility Upgrades to Promote Increased Student Learning and Positive Culture and Climate For more information regarding the assignment of accreditation statuses to school districts, you may access the TEA website at http://www.tea.texas.gov/accredstatus/.
