THE JOHNS HOPKINS GREENBERG BLADDER CANCER INSTITUTE BLADDER CANCER RESEARCH FUND GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATIONS The Johns Hopkins Greenberg Bladder Cancer Institute announces that applications seeking funding for bladder cancer research projects will be accepted starting September 8, 2015. The deadline for submitting applications is October 19. The Institute welcomes proposals from multidisciplinary investigators from both within and outside Johns Hopkins. Areas of particular research interest to the Institute include targeted therapies (Genetic and Epigenetic approaches), Immunotherapy, patient care and education, disease prevention and screening. This funding is intended to encourage new investigators, support pilot and exploratory projects of established investigators, and leverage existing resources and expertise. Awards will be for pilot projects, focused on bladder cancer, that develop a new research direction, explore an innovative idea, test an unconventional, but potentially important new hypothesis, or ascertain the feasibility of a new research approach. High priority will be given to project innovation and/or potential clinical impact. 2. All faculty of Johns Hopkins University may apply, regardless of their departmental affiliation. Faculty from institutions outside Johns Hopkins are also eligible to apply. Fellows are not permitted to be principal investigators for these awards. An investigator may hold only one pilot project award at a time. 3. Investigators are encouraged to use the funds to support the salaries of postdoctoral fellows, and students or for equipment, and/or for consumable supplies. Awardees will be expected to provide a 500 word summary of their research plans, understandable to lay people, at the time of funding, and an additional 500 word summary of their research accomplishments, also understandable to lay people, at the completion of funding. Awardees will also be expected to present their progress at an annual scientific session. Publications generated as a result of funding support should acknowledge the Johns Hopkins Greenberg Bladder Cancer Research Fund. Grants should be submitted electronically.
