General Responsibilities
Clinical

Attend for regular supervision with supervising clinical psychologist and
appropriately use supervision for guidance, feedback and support

Foster good working relationships with managers and staff in day services and
residential services

To communicate well and in a professional manner with clients, staff and
carers both verbally and in writing.

To take responsibility for observing, recording and analysing behaviour in
high-profile individuals under the supervision of the specialist clinical
psychologist

To gain an understanding of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and
contribute positively to Behaviour Support Plans for individual clients, in
collaboration with support staff and their managers
Assessment

To contribute to the diagnostic assessment of adults for complex autism
spectrum conditions, where appropriate, including observation,
collating information and analysis of assessments.

To have occasional involvement in the assessing of children for
complex ASD at the Elizabeth Newson Centre

To contribute to written reports, meetings and case conferences
regarding individuals for assessment

To liaise with carers and professionals with regards to individuals
referred for assessment

To keep abreast of current good practice and research in
autism/learning disability and attend relevant training to meet the
objectives of continued professional development

To be involved in training of others around clinical issues, research, and
good practice underpinned by evidence-based psychological theory

To develop a good working knowledge of current government policy
and national standards when it comes to providing quality services to
individuals who have autism and/or a learning disability.
Other

To act at all times according to the policy and philosophy of the
organisation

Be familiar with fire, health and safety and recording procedures and
ensure that they are strictly followed

Attend individual staff
mandatory training

To be involved in carrying out service evaluation where necessary

Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the specialist
