School of Creative Media Critical Intermedia Laboratory Proposal for Workshop Series Objectives The CIL workshop series are workshops commenced at the beginning of Semester B 2009-10 for the non final year CIL & Intermedia students. The workshops will be on different hand-on skills supplementing their study. These skills are identified by the CIL & Intermedia students to be important for their artistic creation and study within the studio, ranging from 2D & 3D diagram drawing (for installation plans), web design, programming languages, print fundamentals to presentation skills. The CIL & Intermedia students are expected to apply the techniques learnt into their study in CIL and artistic creations. The workshops aim to raise the standard of artistry within the studio at large. Sections Title 1. 3D Fundamentals Description Students will learn to draw 3D diagrams with 3D Studio Max for installation, exhibition and other purposes Duration 6 hours (2 classes x 3 hours) x 2 Groups 2. Image Presentation Fundamentals Students will learn to present printed works (photography and others) (e.g. Printing and Mounting) for formal exhibition purposes Students will learn some html in Dreamweaver including CSS style sheet (4 hrs); students will then customize Wordpress as personal artist web with html + php code (5 hrs) 3 hours Students will learn to use Javascript for further interactive / computational creative work (as a foundation) 4 hours (2 classes x 2 hours) 3. Web Design Fundamentals with Wordpress 4.
