Dear Parents,
Year 6 SATs Exams
Our congratulations to all of the Year 6 children who have been sitting their SAT’s
Exams this week – they have all worked incredibly hard and deserve every success in
their results. Our thanks also to Mrs Ridguard-Thomas and Miss Jolliffe, who have
worked so hard to prepare the children.
Mrs Short
We are delighted to announce that Mrs Short had a healthy baby girl, weighing 8lb,
13oz on Saturday 3rd May. They have named her Aurora Marie Short. Many
congratulations to Sophie, Dan and Jakobi as they settle into being a family of four.
Staff Changes
As Mrs Mitchell has moved to the Finance Officer’s role within school, we are
delighted to announce that we will have two new members of staff to work with Mrs
Blackburn on the front desk. Mrs Mel Williams and Mrs Vicki Clarke will be joining
us next week – we wish them every success and happiness in their roles at St Bede’s.
Summer Uniform
Please remember that all children are expected to attend school in the Summer
Uniform when we return after the Half Term Holiday. The list of uniform is shown
below for your information:
The only exception to this is that Year 6 will need to attend school on Tuesday 17th
June and Thursday 19th June in their winter uniform, wearing their red tie, for the
school photographer.
Sports Day
Due to circumstances beyond our control, linked to Bishop Challoner, we will have to
move the date of our Sports Day to Friday 4th July. This was originally our reserve
date, so we are praying that the weather is good on this day! Our apologies for any
inconvenience this may cause – unfortunately despite our best efforts this date
change has been unavoidable.
Golf Tournament
We are delighted to offer our congratulations to 10 children from Years 3 and 4,
who attended an inter-schools Golf Tournament yesterday at Bishopswood Golf
Course. Despite only having a couple of practice sessions, our children worn the
tournament by an enormous 200 points, taking them through to the next round of
the competition to be held in June.
Our congratulations to Gabriella Della-Savina, Alina Tony, Holly Williams, Daisy
Nixon, Emily Blackburn, Maxwell Collingwood, Thomas Gorby, Matthew Gorby, Oliver
Brennan and Dawid Wrobel.
Year 6 Bikeability
Our Year 6 children will be taking part in their Bikeability Training next week, which
means we will have 61 children transporting bikes to and from school on Monday
through to Thursday next week. Please take extra care in the drop off zone, and
surrounding roads to ensure you are aware of the cyclists.
WOW! Certificates
WOW! (Work of the Week) Certificates were awarded to the following children
recently to recognise their outstanding work, which was displayed on the WOW!
