CHECKLIST

Submit copies of all transfer work completed since leaving UCD (community college, UC, State University,
UCD Open Campus and in-progress work).
o Unofficial transcripts sent as attachments will be sufficient for readmission purposes.
o
Final official transcripts must be sent to the University Office of Undergraduate Admissions, One
Shields Avenue, Davis, California
NOTE: Community college grades do not calculate into your UC GPA and are usually not applicable to
readmission, unless specified as part of your readmission requirements.

Please indicate if no transfer work was completed.

Students changing majors out of CBS or to a new major within CBS must meet with an academic adviser in
the department of the proposed major and submit
o graduation plan (if over 120 units have been completed) or
o one-year academic plan if under 120 units.
NOTE: If you are interested in changing to an impacted or selective major you will not be readmitted until
minimum prep course/s and GPA requirements are met. Please review requirements for entering your
proposed major in the UCD General Catalog. You may need to complete these requirements at community
college to be considered for future readmission. Impacted/selective majors are:
Psychology, Human Development, International Relations, Communications, Viticulture/Enology,
Computer Science and any Engineering major
ADDITIONAL READMISSION INFORMATION:

Please submit all checklist information as soon as possible if your academic situation likely necessitates summer
coursework and you are seeking fall or winter quarter readmission. This is important to allow adequate time for the
advisers to evaluate your information.

For students who have been out of UCD for two or more quarters, please send items by March 1, if possible.

Upon receipt of checklist information, you will be contacted by phone or e-mail if we need additional information or
you will be sent very specific summer requirements prior to the beginning of Summer Session 1. Please allow at least
two weeks for a response from CBS.

Depending upon when you submit checklist items, the Dean’s office may not be able to respond prior to the
beginning of summer session registration or the beginning of summer session. Because of this, it is essential to
review the information, provided below, and register for one or both summer sessions until an adviser
can respond with specific course/grade requirements. Summer session applications are normally available by midMarch and registration begins late April. For additional information visit: http://summer-sessions.ucdavis.edu/

Most students who left the university not in good standing are required to take summer courses

at a UC to improve UC GPA (community college grades will not improve UC GPA)

or at a UC or community college to complete units necessary to meet minimum progress standards.
It is often impossible to sufficiently improve GPA without two summer sessions. If this is the case, and you
do not complete both sessions, your readmission request will be denied.
Students are normally required to take two classes (approximately 8 units) in at least one session with a
combination of major and non-major courses (possibly two sessions if GPA is significantly below 2.0).
Repeats of courses with grades of D+ or below are usually appropriate as repeats improve GPA most
rapidly.

However, these are not good choices if you have already used the allowable 16 repeat units or are
changing out of a science major and obvious repeats options would be science courses.
Typical summer requirements for each session are listed below. You MUST have summer courses approved
by a CBS Dean’s office/BASC adviser.
Students continuing toward science major:
one science/major course + one non-major course (7-8 units)
(do not take two CBS major courses in one session)
Students changing to non-science majors:
two courses for your new major (8 units) – no science repeat

Records of students who have submitted or plan to submit a retroactive withdrawal or drop petition will be reviewed
on the assumption the petition/s will be denied. Until approval has been noted on your record, you will be required
to follow the same readmission procedures as all other students.

Students Subject to Disqualification for Minimum Progress must complete sufficient units in summer to be in
compliance by end of summer sessions. Units can be earned at community college (in summer only, not during the
academic year) if you are not required to take summer courses at a UC to improve GPA.

Students completing summer session 2 may not be activated to register until fall quarter begins. At that time, course
choices will be limited. If unable to take purposeful or required classes to change your major, your readmission may
be deferred to winter quarter to ensure more class availability.

Summer Session Financial Aid is not available for students who have missed one or more quarters of UCD registration.
Please review summer course fees and plan accordingly.

PLEASE MEET WITH A FINANCIAL AID ADVISER IN EARLY SUMMER TO HAVE AID ESTABLISHED PRIOR TO THE FIRST
DAY OF INSTRUCTION OF THE QUARTER FOR WHICH YOU ARE EXPECTING READMISSION. Quarterly financial aid
eligibility may be affected by academic and minimum progress status. ((http://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/).
