John von Neumann Computer Society
The objective of the Society is to facilitate an independent professional forum in Hungary and/or in
Hungarian-speaking foreign societies:





the application and development of information technology, and the dissemination of results;
the preservation and/or advancement of the prestige, quality and ethics of the profession;
broad range participation in international professional life;
providing information to, and facilitating the exchange of experience among information
technology experts;
spreading of the culture of information technology and education.
To attain its goals, the Society provides services as a non-profit organization and/or provides a
platform to enterprises, within which:







members enjoy the opportunity to participate in professional public life;
expresses opinions on research, development, educational and extended training programs
and participates in their elaboration;
at the request of, on behalf of, or at the initiative of the members of state organizations,
business associations, or social organizations it takes a stand on important professional and
information technology related social issues, elaborates concepts, conducts studies,
articulates expert opinions with the participation of registered society experts;
organises lectures, conferences, congresses, seminars, professional shows, exhibitions and
courses; professional consultancy, and study tours in Hungary and abroad;
announces tenders, funds and awards prizes, recognizes the performance of special duties by
awarding prizes; attempts to involve students and young experts in professional public life;
maintains relations in its area of competence with various domestic and foreign organisations,
represents Hungary as member in domestic and/or international scientific organisations.

The Society has 14 regional organisations and 5 other regional organisations are active in the five
major cities of Hungary.
Problems arising in connection with specific software and hardware systems are discussed in the
framework of relevant professional programs, for example user groups are created for the application
of special software and hardware systems, where users may exchange experience.
