Admission for the upcoming school year begins in March. However, GGIS operates a year-round rolling admissions policy: new applications for the ongoing academic year may be accepted year round. Starting of school Step 1: Application A.) Application If you would like to apply to GGIS, please send in all of the following documents to the GGIS registrar by mail, email, or in person. Email: registrar@ggis.hu) □ □ Completed application form (on www.ggis.hu) □ Copy of identification document of the Parents/Guardians (passport or residency permit or birth certificate or személyi igazolvány) – for the Parent who will sign the Educational Agreement □ □ Previous school information with certified translation. At the minimum, we will need progress reports and report cards or transcripts from the last three (3) years of schooling (when applicable). We need certified translations if these documents are not in English or in Hungarian. We would like to review academic, behavioral, disciplinary, and social information about the student prior to the interview. Please include results from any standardized testing Copy of identification document of the child (passport or residency permit or birth certificate or személyi igazolvány) Confidential student reference form for grades 1-12 from the previous educational institution (on www.ggis.hu). Previous school needs to send it directly to the GGIS registrar B.) Screening and/or testing Upon reviewing all the application documents and school records, we will contact you to schedule any screening or testing required. Applicants are screened or tested to assess background strengths and weaknesses to determine school readiness, and to determine levels of English-language proficiency. C.) Interview with the principal Upon receiving all the application documents and screening/testing results we will contact you to schedule an interview with the principal. We ask that both the potential student(s) and their Parents or legal guardians be present at the interview. If the Parents do not speak English, please have an English translator accompany the family. D.) Decision of the principal The principal will review the submitted file and make a decision about the admission and placement of the prospective student. Parents or guardians will be informed of the decision by phone or email. E.) Submission of all the other required documents All documents (see list below) must be submitted before registration. Email: registrar@ggis.hu). □ □ □ Preparatory or preschool questionnaire (if applicable) □ Copy of Student's address card in Hungary (lakcímkártya or tartózkodási hely igazolás - or an official verification from the Immigration Office, that obtaining legal residence in Hungary is in the process) □ □ Copy of immunization records in English or with international abbreviations Copy of Parent's address card in Hungary (lakcímkártya or tartózkodási hely igazolás or an official verification from the Immigration Office, that obtaining legal residence in Hungary is in the process) for Parent who signs the Educational Agreement Copy of Parent's Hungarian tax card (adókártya) for Parent who signs the Educational Agreement Copy of Student's health insurance documents (TAJ kártya for Hungarians) Step 2: Registration Upon receiving ALL required forms and documents (if applicable) Parents receive a notification email from the Finance Office that the Registration can take place. Registration must be completed before the student may start school. Registration includes the following steps: A.) Signing the Educational Agreement at the time of registration B.) Registration fee paid A registration fee is due at the time of registration. This fee is part of the total fees of education and refundable until July 31st. Contact the finance office at finance@ggis.hu if you need to make an appointment or you need bank-transfer information Step 3: Student enrolled into GGIS A.) Orientation B.) Starting of School Orientation will take place on the first day of the school year or on the day the student will start school during the course of the school year. During orientation the student will receive his/her schedule, books, homework planner, student manual etc. During the course of the academic year the starting date is decided by the Principal.
