HIGHLIGHTS OF EXPERIENCE
Randy also was an Oregon certified Paramedic for 13 years on an advanced life support ambulance.
Being a Paramedic gave him the ability to lead, teach and communicate with diverse groups. He was
the lead Paramedic, so he has leadership and supervisory skills in high intensity situations, where the
decisions you make are critical. This position required him to be able to handle all kinds of emergency
situations with aplomb. Due to this career, he is also very 'safety-aware' in all situations. This translates
into his current work with equines.
Randy graduated from Oregon State University, followed up with internships with well established,
qualified AFA Journeyman Farriers-He's been shoeing horses for 19 years. This occupation requires
constant communication with a large spectrum of people, from those who own hunter/jumper horses to
those who own Western Pleasure horses as well as developing and maintaining good relationships with
both the owners of the horses and the Veterinarians in order to work together regularly in a combined
effort to make the horses sound. He works with livestock on a daily basis. This education, combined
with his Paramedicine, enables him to care for sick and injured animals as well as people with the
caveat that he is not a vet nor a doctor.
He is a skilled professional with proven problem solving, communication, and leadership skills
working in high intensity environments. Strong customer service and medical background while
working as a Paramedic and Farrier with excellent communication and active listening skills.
Demonstrated motivated self-starter, with proven skills and abilities:
 Skilled at prioritizing
 Detail oriented
 Advanced interpersonal skills
 Clear communication
 Demonstrated leadership
 High energy and enthusiasm

States which allow non-veterinary professionals to perform equine dentistry
Responsible for giving comprehensive evaluations, of not just the mouth, but the whole horse in order to
plan a restoration strategy. By observing the horse's entire body, movement and responsiveness, you can
gauge problems before even looking at the teeth.
The incisors are addressed first to restore proper length and angle. This allows for proper movement of
the jaw giving balance to the TMJ. After this, the premolars and molars can then be adjusted to
maximize surface to surface contact of all teeth. The priority is achieving performance and muscle massnot just taking off the sharp points.
