NIH Extramural Loan Repayment Programs (LRP)
The overall objective of the NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRP) is the recruitment and retention of
highly qualified health professionals to careers in clinical, pediatric, health disparities, or contraception
and infertility research. The five individual Loan Repayment Programs share many similarities that are
detailed on the NIH website at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-08083.html#Eligible. Applicants must follow the links to individual LRP notices provided in the above link
for detailed instructions on the submission process.
One of the requirements of the NIH LRP is the requirement of an institutional official to verify
institutional support for your research. This is accomplished by providing the contact information for the
Assistant Vice President for Research on the LRP website who will provide verification of compensation
amounts and availability of time and resources to conduct your proposed research as well as an assurance
of two years of continuing support and a minimum 50% commitment (20 hours per week) of research
effort.
In order for our office to provide this assurance please send a copy of your LRP application as well as the
attached certification signed by your Department Chair and Dean’s Office Representative to the PreAward section of the Office of Research and Economic Development.
Please ensure that the email addresses and contact information for the institutional official is entered as
follows:
