Dean’s List for Volunteering
Description: This category recognises participation in a volunteering activity and
personal reflection on the impact of the activity on themselves and the
group/individual.
Eligibility:
Self-nomination form indicating that the student has fulfilled the
requirements and a confirming stamp/signature from a nominated senior
person in the activity’s organisation (e.g. captain, chair, coordinator). It
should be made clear to the applicant that the certifying person will be
contacted to verify the applicant’s participation. Specific criteria are:
 The role/task undertaken was extra-curricular and without payment or
course credit.
 A minimum of 60 hours of activity
 the activity must be associated with no more than 2
organisations.
 the activity must be sustained over a period of time
Evaluation:
The applicant should complete the application form, providing evidence of
reflection on how they are different from before they volunteered (e.g.
what have they learned and how have their attitudes changed) and how
the organisation/individual has benefitted from the applicant’s
involvement.
