In order for you to bring your stock here you will need to obtain a licence (TB24B) from your local Defra Animal Health Office. Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to update you in this publication or better still ring anytime *** SHEEP EID The following applies to movements made from 01.01.2011 – for sheep indentified since 1st January 2010 1. 2. Lambs/Hoggets destined for slaughter before they reach 12 months of age and identified with a single tag bearing flock mark (electronic or manual) These sheep can be recorded on movement documents as a batch. There is NO requirement to list all the flock numbers, even when a “batch within batch” consignment is moved. Lambs/ Hoggets (Stores) must be double tagged and must be electronic These sheep MUST be individually identified on the movement document, unless they are moving to Newark or any other approved CPRC (Central Point Recording Centre) where the tags will be read and recorded on behalf of the keeper. Keepers using the CPRC facility must populate their Holding Register with the read information within 48 hours of the sheep leaving their holding Holding Registers: 1. ALL sheep moved MUST be recorded in the keepers Holding Register “Keepers” include: farmers, dealers, markets, abattoirs etc. This has been a requirement since 31 st December 2009. Today some nice bulls forward and plenty of the top end bulls over 16 months of age and certainly not discounted. Black and whites were well sold with meat, however a vast percentage were exceptionally plain which reflected in our averages. Top bull today was consigned by Stan and Jeff Evans who sold Blues to 235.5p - £1248.15. Graham Mason sold Blues to 234.5p - £1331.96. Today it was good to see Robin Smith, Melton Mowbray in the market looking well and his usual cheeky self despite his ongoing health issues. We all wish Robin well for his forthcoming operation. Robin sold Bazadaise to 232.5p - £1374.08 with others to 229.5p £1477.98, 229.5p - £1321.92. Saying that the top end some real marvellous fed young cows on offer. Trade today was again very similar with cows looking very well sold against the middle of the road clean cattle. The top cows today were dominated by Tommy and Anthony Holmes who sold Limousins to 195.5p - £1597.24 with another at 192.5p - £1805.65 and Blondes to 185.5p - £1339.31 with another Limousin to 170.5p - £1321.88 and Blues to 168.5p - £1283.97. Today U+ graded cows 166p and above with –U grades 150-158p and R grades 140-148p and O+’s 130-138p. Best meated Holsteins 120-130p with plainer sorts 110-118p and very plain sorts 100-100p and horrors 90-100p. OTMS clean cattle were most definitely not a vintage show, however quality steers from John White, Banbury sold to 217.5p - £1548.60. John Crofts sold Limousin heifers to £1476.97.
