Workshop-cum-Seminar on Minor Languages of the Northeast India organized by Department of English and Foreign Languages, Tezpur University in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore and National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi from 3rd to 12th January 2009 Tezpur University F No:TU /EFL/ MLWS/ 01/2008 7th Nov 2008 The Department of English and Foreign Languages, Tezpur University is organizing a workshop-cumseminar on minor languages of Northeast India from 3rd to12th January 2009. The Workshop on Minor Languages of Northeast India is from 3rd to 10th January 2009. The workshop will focus on the following groups: (i) Bodo-Konyak Group Chang, Sangtam, Phom, Yimchungar, Khiamniunga (Nagaland), Wamcho, Tutsa, Nokte, Tangsa (Arunachal Pradesh), Rabha, Tiwa, Dimasa, Karbi, Chorai (Assam) (ii) Zomi Group Zou, Monsang (Manipur) Bru, Laik, Lakher (Mizoram) (iii) A miscellaneous Group comprising of: Deori,Mising,Mishmi(Digaru),Rai,Mangar,Newari,Sherpa,Monpa,Galo,Nisyi,Khamti,Sherdukpen ,Miji The Seminar on Nominalization is on 11-12 January 2009. The seminar will focus on the process of nominalization in minor languages of Northeast India. Papers are invited from linguists, scholars, and researchers working on these languages. Those interested can send an abstract (of not less/more than 300 words) by 30th November 2008. We would like an early response as accommodation at the university guest house and hostels are limited. TA and DA will be paid as per rule. There will be a working lunch.
