8th Korea-China Clean Energy Workshop November 24 - 27, 2010 Riviera Hotel, Daejeon, KOREA Organized by Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) Sponsored by Ministry of Knowledge and Economy (MKE) Supported by Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE) Invitation The Organizing Committee and the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) are pleased to announce that the 8th Korea-China Workshop on Clean Energy Technology will be held from November 24 to November 27, 2010 at Riviera Hotel in Daejeon. In the 21st century, Korea and China will cooperate with each other to solve the environmental problems and to cope with the Climate Change Convention. The workshop will present an in-depth update of new and advanced technologies for clean energy. We wish to extend a cordial invitation to those who are interested in clean energy related issues, research, development and commercialization. Topics of interest The workshop is aimed at promoting the fundamental and applied studies of Clean Energy Technology. The major topics of the workshop will be: • CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) • CCT (Clean Coal Technology) • Low-rank coal utilization • Gasification • Heavy oil upgrading • Emission control • Efficiency improvement of power plant • Other clean energy Important dates October 15, 2010 : Deadline for abstract Submission November 24, 2010 : Deadline for full paper submission for journal publication Abstract submission Attendees who wish to have their papers considered for presentation at the workshop should submit a two-page extended abstract via web (http://www.cleanenergy8.or.kr) before October 15, 2010. A template for abstract will be available on website of the workshop. Journal publication Attendees who want their papers to be considered for publication on KJChE (SCI-E) should send the full manuscripts to the workshop secretaries by November 24. The manuscripts should be made in accordance with the guideline for authors of KJChE. Please check the website of KIChE, http://www.kiche.or.kr/english/, for detailed instruction. Registration Registration fee includes the workshop proceeding book, social events, and technical tour. Fees are classified as follows depending on attendance of technical tour: KRW 300,000 for attendees who wish to attend technical tour KRW 200,000 for attendees who do not wish to attend technical tour KRW 100,000 for students regardless of technical tour Technical tour The workshop attendees will have a chance to visit R&D sites for Carbon Capture and Storage and Clean Coal Technology which are located in Daedeok Innopolis. Also, tour plan for Hahoe folk village which has been recently registered as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Location and accommodation Daejeon, A Science town Daejeon is the fifth largest city in Korea with a population of approximately 1.5 million on an area of 540㎢. Daejeon is well known as a cradle for science and technology development. Daedeok Innopolis (Daedeok Research and Development Special Zone) is composed of 28 state-run research centers as well as 79 private research institutes with as many as 20,000 researchers. They have been developing world-class technologies which have lead the nation' economic growth for the past 30 years. With geological benefit as a transportation hub, Daejeon will provide the ideal setting for the 8th Korea-China Workshop.
