Overview:
In this lesson students will focus on their oral English fluency and identify singular and plural nouns.
Content Objective (Social Studies Frameworks) –
Students will be able to:

Students will be able to:
 Read a paragraph in English.
 Distinguish between singular and plural nouns by identifying the vocabulary words in written text and enunciating the vocabulary
words while reading.
State Standards:
S.4: Presentation: Students will present information orally and participate in performances in English that demonstrate appropriate consideration of
audience, purpose, and the information to be conveyed.
R.1: Vocabulary and Syntax in Print: Students will acquire English vocabulary and apply knowledge of correct syntax to comprehend written text.
R.2 Beginning to Read in English: Using the foundations of oral language and previous reading experiences, student will understand the nature of
written English and the relationships of letters to the sounds of English speech.

Do Now (Launch):
1. Students watch teacher’s video of self-recorded reading selection out loud and follow along (play video of self).
2. Class Discussion on presentation:
a. Reading Dos and Don’ts (enunciate, feeling, slow, eye contact, volume etc.)

3. Students practice reading with a partner (without recording)
a. Receive peer and teacher feedback based on list generated during the Do-Now
4. Students log into I-Movie to record reading selection
a. Students listen to own reading selection and highlight singular nouns in yellow and plural nouns in green or blue.
b. Optional: Students underline self-identified errors
5. Students save and post file on their website
6. Summary/Reflection Share-out
Accommodations:
Check lists and instruction sheets, record in the hallway, record using pod cast, “silent period” students may use teacher’s video to listen to and highlight
instead of recording their own video.
