April 1, 2016 UPCOMING EVENTS Next Thursday, April 7, is Indian Lane’s Art Show. Beginning at 6:00pm, you will be able to walk our decorated halls. Come out and see the fabulous work your student has created! DIVING INTO LEARNING It was nice to have off during spring break, but it was great to get back to a full week of learning! Writing Workshop: This week, we focused on singular and plural nouns, possessives, quotation marks and point of view. Math: We worked with 3-digit numbers and used place value charts to determine each digit’s value. TABLE TALK: Conversation starters for the dinner table. Name 3 singular nouns and 3 plural nouns. What are the “3 Sisters?” Reading Workshop: One of the strategies the children practiced was how to put newly learned information into their own words, rather than just repeating what the author wrote. Social Studies: We discovered how the Eastern Woodland Native Americans lived. We created a pocket for this region and filled it with information and crafts. By the end of this unit, each child will have a book containing four different regions. What is the value of the 4 in the number 342? I heard you changed seats again. Who are your new tablemates? HAVE A WONDERFUL Weekend! Wendy Barton
