ALUMNI CAREER EDUCATORS (ACE)
Programs and Service Offerings
Sponsored by the Office of Career Services
Want to Give Back and Get Involved?
Career Services offers numerous opportunities for Centenary alumni to get involved with
current students. Alumni from all academic backgrounds in a variety of occupations can
help current students explore majors and career fields, give advice about choosing and
preparing for careers and act as networking contacts. These contacts can be continued
after students graduate and join the ranks of successful Centenary alums to mutually serve
both individuals in their future endeavors. Listed below are just a few of the program and
services offerings of Career Services.
Graduate School Program
Become a Centenary College Alumni Ambassador! Help recruit graduate students
for MBA program. Talk personally to graduates about why you chose the graduate
programs. Share your educational experiences about:




Professors who provided mentoring
Significant courses and professors who challenged you
Research you conducted during graduate school
Other experiences that you had as a graduate student
Mentorship Program
This unique program is designed by pairing alumni mentors with students who
have similar academic, career, or general interests. The program offers
involvement in the Centenary community at the most personal level. Mentors can
do much to help students develop a realistic appreciation of their major(s)
Mock Interviewing Program
We can help students master the job interview —there is no better way to help
students succeed. The Office of Career Services can arrange presentations by
professionals along with a half-day program at least twice a year in which
employers conduct 20-minute, videotaped mock interviews with students and then
provide 20-minute critiques to improve interview skills. Each employer interviews
five students.

*Externship/Internship Program
Centenary alumni can be great contacts for current students and other Alumni interested in
gaining practical experience or even full-time employment in the workplace. If you and
your organization would like to consider sponsoring a Centenary intern or, recruiting and
hiring Centenary grads please notify the Career Services office.
*To learn about our Externship program, where individuals or small groups of Centenary
students visit employer worksites for part of a day, contact the Office of Career Service.
Career Connections
Alumni Career Connections is an alumnus speakers’ series designed to help students
with major, career, and/or advanced degree decision-making. Each month an alumnus
returns to campus to speak about his/her professional and/or graduate school experiences.
It is a popular program that offers information on a variety of topics. The Offices of
Alumni Relations and Career Services work together to identify and schedule the alumni
speakers. Each assembly is co-sponsored by an appropriate program/department/
organization on campus.
Study Aboard
Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience. Volunteer to talk about your study
abroad experiences personally with students in the classroom and or at campus events.
This is a grand opportunity for you to share your experiences and spread the word about
international studies/travel. You may wish to address classes and student groups about
your own study abroad program and host country, give out information about study
abroad opportunities, and answer questions about how and why you chose a study abroad
program(s).
