Career Services offers numerous opportunities for Centenary alumni to get involved with current students. Alumni from all academic backgrounds in a variety of occupations can help current students explore majors and career fields, give advice about choosing and preparing for careers and act as networking contacts. These contacts can be continued after students graduate and join the ranks of successful Centenary alums to mutually serve both individuals in their future endeavors. Listed below are just a few of the program and services offerings of Career Services. Graduate School Program Become a Centenary College Alumni Ambassador! Help recruit graduate students for MBA program. Talk personally to graduates about why you chose the graduate programs. Share your educational experiences about: Professors who provided mentoring Significant courses and professors who challenged you Research you conducted during graduate school Other experiences that you had as a graduate student Mentorship Program This unique program is designed by pairing alumni mentors with students who have similar academic, career, or general interests. The program offers involvement in the Centenary community at the most personal level. Mentors can do much to help students develop a realistic appreciation of their major(s) Mock Interviewing Program We can help students master the job interview —there is no better way to help students succeed. The Office of Career Services can arrange presentations by professionals along with a half-day program at least twice a year in which employers conduct 20-minute, videotaped mock interviews with students and then provide 20-minute critiques to improve interview skills. Each employer interviews five students. see back page *Externship/Internship Program Centenary alumni can be great contacts for current students and other Alumni interested in gaining practical experience or even full-time employment in the workplace. If you and your organization would like to consider sponsoring a Centenary intern or, recruiting and hiring Centenary grads please notify the Career Services office. *To learn about our Externship program, where individuals or small groups of Centenary students visit employer worksites for part of a day, contact the Office of Career Service. Career Connections Alumni Career Connections is an alumnus speakers’ series designed to help students with major, career, and/or advanced degree decision-making. Each month an alumnus returns to campus to speak about his/her professional and/or graduate school experiences. It is a popular program that offers information on a variety of topics. The Offices of Alumni Relations and Career Services work together to identify and schedule the alumni speakers. Each assembly is co-sponsored by an appropriate program/department/ organization on campus. Study Aboard Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience. Volunteer to talk about your study abroad experiences personally with students in the classroom and or at campus events. This is a grand opportunity for you to share your experiences and spread the word about international studies/travel. You may wish to address classes and student groups about your own study abroad program and host country, give out information about study abroad opportunities, and answer questions about how and why you chose a study abroad program(s).
