The last date to meet the requirements of the qualification is 31 December 2018 at which point the qualification will be designated discontinued. People are able to collect samples from animals and carry out routine examinations or tests on samples; work unsupervised as a member of team in an animal facility; provide support for the manager of the overall animal facility; and provide support and guidance to research staff using the facility. All standards in the qualification are compulsory as laboratory animal care involves a set of well defined skills and knowledge that are applicable across all animal facilities. Award of NQF Qualifications Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. All versions of this qualification will be recognised by the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation. Certification The certificate will display the logos of NZQA and the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation.
