Welcome to COMPUTER SKILLS & APPLICATIONS II (6207) Welcome to Computer Skills & Application II! I have so many wonderful things planned for this semester. Let me first start out by telling you that this class is geared toward teaching you the fundamentals of computer skills & applications and getting you ready for any future technology that will help guide you into your future careers. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Computer Skills & Applications (Part II) will be taught in 6 (3 week modules): Computer Skills and Applications (Keyboarding Module 3 – Building Speed and Accuracy) This module is designed to increase keyboarding speed and accuracy when using the touch method. Emphasis is on daily use of a computer system, speed and accuracy skill building techniques and appropriate software to provide integrated training through a learn/practice/sustain/assess plan of skill building. Computer Skills and Applications (Spreadsheet Basics and Formulas) This module is designed to teach the basic skills in spreadsheets and utilizing formulas for everyday use in the business community. Emphasis is on daily use of a computer system and appropriate software to provide integrated training through a learn/practice/sustain/assess plan of skill building. Computer Skills and Applications (Spreadsheet Charts and Advanced Features) This module is designed to teach the creation, manipulation of charts, and using advanced features in spreadsheet software. Emphasis is on daily use of a computer system and appropriate software to provide integrated training through a learn/practice/sustain/assess plan of skill building. Computer Skills and Applications (Database Basics) This module is designed to teach the basic skills in database creation, using tables, and the manipulation of information in the form of queries. Emphasis is on daily use of a computer system and appropriate software to provide integrated training through a learn/practice/sustain/assess plan of skill building. COMPUTER SKILLS & APPLICATIONS II 7TH GRADE MS. PRATT PAGE|1 Computer Skills and Applications (Presentation Basics) This module is designed to teach the basic skills in multimedia presentations. Emphasis is on daily use of a computer system and appropriate software to provide integrated training through a learn/practice/sustain/assess plan of skill building. Computer Skills and Applications (Presentations Techniques) This module is designed to teach the techniques and skills needed to make a presentation. Communication skills are a key component of this module. The earlier students begin using the appropriate keyboarding techniques and software applications, the more proficient they will become on the computer. At the end of the course, you will take an end-of-course test called VoCATS (Vocational Competency Achievement Tracking System), which will assess the skills learned in this course throughout the semester. COURSE OBJECTIVES/COMPETENCIES: At the end of the 18 weeks, students should be able to demonstrate their knowledge in the following areas: Module 1 ESSENTIAL STANDARD Understand the purpose and procedures for developing a multimedia presentation. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS When presentation software should be used to communicate information? What content is appropriate for delivery through presentation software? Module 2 & 3 ESSENTIAL STANDARD Understand the purpose and procedures for developing a multimedia presentation.
