Attendance is mandatory to participate in graduation. SCHS Graduation will be Friday, May 22, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center. Baccalaureate service will be Monday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church on D Street in South Charleston, WV. A SENIOR WHO ATTENDS MUST WEAR HIS/HER CAP AND GOWN. THIS IS A FORMAL CEREMONY to celebrate your accomplishment in meeting the standards set forth by SCHS and the state of West Virginia to get your diploma. Please join us for this wonderful event. Senior finals will be May 12, 13, and 14. Make up finals will be May 15. Awards Assembly and graduation practice rehearsal will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015, in the gym at SCHS at 9:00 a.m. STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR CAP AND GOWN FOR PRACTICE. The Awards Assembly will be on Wednesday, May 20 at 9:00 a.m. in the SCHS gym. CAP AND GOWN IS A REQUIREMENT TO WEAR for this activity. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony. Dr. Joe Oliver, SCHS technologist, will have an excellent DVD of the graduation ceremony and the awards ceremony combined. You may find a form on line at http://kcs.kana.k12.wv.us/schs/ to purchase the DVD. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, senior formal (drape/tux) portraits will be done by Lifetouch for the yearbook. This is a make-up date because your first session should have been completed over the summer.) You have the option to be photographed free of charge so you can appear in the yearbook. If you miss this date, you MUST call and schedule an appointment with Prestige Portraits. Tuesday, February 3, 2015, is the spring picture and cap and gown picture date. On Monday, March 23, 2015, seniors will receive a Senior Bulletin; it is extremely important to read and follow the guidelines set forth for graduation in the bulletin. This will contain information about the Charleston Civic Center and their rules and regulations along with other requirements for dress, shoes, etc. DURING THE THIRD NINE WEEKS YOUR NAME WILL BE POSTED ON THE TROPHY CASE. PLEASE CHECK FOR ACCURACY. MAKE SURE YOUR MIDDLE NAME IS FILLED IN IF IT IS NOT THERE. IF NO MISTAKE IS MARKED OR CORRECTION MADE, YOUR DIPLOMA WILL BE ISSUED WITH THAT SPELLING AND NO OTHER DIPLOMA WILL BE ORDERED. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Senior Powerpoint Picture Guidelines for Mrs. Estep in Room 140 Please submit pictures on USB flash drive with your name (senior student’s name) on it so that it can be returned. Mrs. Estep will return your flashdrive before you graduate. Do not put other information on the flash drive as it will not be available to you until the power point is finished. Mrs. Estep WILL ANNOUNCE when it is time to pick up your flashdrive. We do not have time to scan and crop pictures. Please do not submit more than five pictures-one infant picture, 2-3 group pictures with fellow graduates (especially from grade school, middle school years, and senior year events- i.e. homecoming, Snowball Dance, Prom, games, etc.), and one senior picture. With group pictures please submit a list of names of all who appear in the picture with you; please write neatly. Do not put borders or send blurred pictures. If photo has “Do Not Copy” on it, it will not be included; this would violate copyright policy. Pictures should be submitted on or before Wednesday, March 17 (Saint Patrick’s Day) to Ms. Estep in Room 140 so that she will have time to complete the slide show for the seniors for graduation. Community Service/Ms. T. Ellis Room 202 Seniors are required to turn in Community Service hours to Miss T. Ellis by the end of the third nine weeks (deadline). Handouts are available in Miss Ellis' room (Room 202) to fill out for community service hours. A student must obtain 150 hours in order to get the green cord for graduation. Students will complete the description, dates, and hours on the form and turn it in signed by the coordinator to Miss T. Ellis. The deadline is the final date that forms may be received. If a student receives 60 hours of community service, they receive a certificate and seal. If a student receives 150 hours of community service, they will receive a certificate, seal, and green cord.
