Week of: 3-3 to 3-7, 2014
Monday (3): Cumulative Problem Set
- TSW use the period work on the cumulative genetics
problem set – Due on Tuesday.
Tuesday (4): Ch 9 Test Review
- We will go through a review of all the information covered
in Ch. 9 to prepare for the exam
Wednesday (5): Ch. 9 Exam
- TSW work on Ch. 9 Exam
- When finished, TSW work on Ch. 12.1 Study Guide
Thursday (6): 12.1 T.H. Morgan Intro
- TSW turn in the cumulative problem set
- We will begin discussing the work of Thomas Hunt Morgan
and his fruit flies – sex determination, sex linkage groups
(X-linked and Y-linked genes), overview of his experiments
to prove sex linkage.
- TSW complete a worksheet reinforcing sex linkage – both
questions and genetics problems.
Friday (7): Finish 12.1– Linkage Maps / Chromosome Mutations
- We will continue and finish our discussion of T.H. Morgan
and his work on linkage groups (genes linked in heredity
based on locations on the chromosome).
- TSW work on Linkage Maps with the remainder of class. I
will introduce how to make linkage maps and they will be
responsible for completing the maps. What they do not
finish will be assigned for homework.
- TSW work on taking their own notes for chromosome
mutations - homework
